TO35 Valve seat part number

1959TO35

New User
Hi folks,

My 1959 TO35 (gas) dropped a valve into the combustion chamber and while I can find most parts, I can't seem to find a number for the Intake Valve seat (it's not repairable)- or maybe it's called something else... Anyone have advice to help my search, or perhaps an exploded diagram with parts numbers that include the bottom of the head?

Most appreciated,
Kerry

Any competent machine should be able to machine the head to take a new valve seat. The machine shop will usually have a assortment of different size valve seats that the machine shop make it into the final size needed.

I would presume a machine shop will be doing the head , so let them find what they need. As they know exactly what they need once they have it on the bench. Youre wasting your time. Unless u are a machinist.

Well, the part I left out was I live in Whitehorse, Yukon, so while there are a few machinists here, none have a suitable part lying around especially as we are not a large agricultural center. No, I am not a machinist myself, but I have pressed in valve seats before.
There is a shop that says they can fabricate a part, I was just hoping to avoid that expense.

The online parts book only shows seats for the exhaust valves.

There should be no need to make a seat from scratch.

An old-time automotive machine shop should have a book like this or similar.

Once you have the KO Lee seat number one can likely be found in ebay or elsewhere on the 'net.

I have a copy that I haven't looked at in years, if it is still on the shelf where it is supposes to be I'll look the number up for you later today.

Also, you could contact Goodson and find out what they might have in the size you need.

The Continental gas engine in the TO35 uses a 30 degree angle on the intake valve seat instead of the normal 45 degree seat angle so you have to watch out for that if you are buying a valve seat already made.

@wore out, thanks for the suggestions. Regarding Goodson, they don't have the information and cut according to dimensions from blanks, so the ID/OD would be extremely helpful if you have it.

@ptfarmer, that 30 degree is interesting, I was debating seeing if I could find a suitable 30 deg valve as one of the ways to save an worn seat is to re-cut to 30 - obviously wont work in this case - thanks

I found my K. O. Lee catalog.

@wore out - It's remarkable that you were able to find those, I spoke to several big dealers, several small ones, a MF specialist and 3 machinist shops. The one MF dealer proposed that they were cut into the head directly (clearly they are not). (thanks for the chat, looking forward to getting her put back together)

Kerry and I were able to get in touch (with NO thanks to this site's messaging system) and I am sending him one to verify if it may fit.
