    1964 4000 with 172 CI gas stalls when hot wont restart

    My 841D had a similar problem. Turns out overheating was not the problem. Fuel tank had debris that would clog the screen after about 10-15 minutes of run time it would quit. After a few minutes the clog would clear itself and off we'd go again. Cleaning the tank solved it.

    Try transmission fluid. Does a great job of rust inhibition.

    Try checking your tank for buildup or debris. Mine would suck up the gunk after about ten or underload.Cleaning the tank solved the problem.

    Mine was the tank. as it was warmed up and under load debris in the tank would suck up against the screen and cause it to die out,. let it rest a few minutes and the junk would fall off the screen. stop repeat, stop repeat. cleaning the tank solved it.
