    parts help for 730 case-o-matic

Also the Eagle Hitch is easier to hook up implements in my book. Not sure why Case bothered to switch to the Fergison hitch when the patent expired.

    parts help for 730 case-o-matic

Draft-o-matic was designed to automatically control the 3 point hitch so a plow stays at a constant depth. Nice for plowing, but a nuisance for other task because a bump will lower or raise your implement.

    parts help for 730 case-o-matic

Instead of a dry clutch like most tractors in the 50s and earlier had, Case came out with the Case-o-matic, which replaced the dry clutch with a torque converter. There is a leaver, usually on the steering column, that locks the torque converter and automatically disengages when the 'clutch'...

    Quick fixes on tractors

One thing to consider is when did the tractor break. Likely not at the end of fall harvest when one had all winter in the shop to fix it, but more likely in the middle of something that had to get done before weather, like hay on the ground and a storm coming. I try not to be too harsh on those...

    Tornado Damage

Sorry to hear about all the damage but glad you, your wife, and the dog are OK. All the other stuff can be replaced. How did other families near you fair?

    Update on railroad flooding

Seems like he has an admission of responsibility. That is important, though it would have been better if they had admitted it in an email in addition to the phone call.

    Sharpening a putty knife Home

Wrong, wood chisels are beveled one side, but you need to sharpen both sides, same with a hand plane. Cold chisels are beveled and sharpened both sides. If you have a wood chisel that has the bevel side sharpened, but the back side gouged and pitted, it will not cut well at all.

    430 and 530 diesels

I thought for the 300, 310B, and 430 the row crop version with the adjustable front axil had the 28" rear tires, the industrial and the utility version with the solid front axil had the 24" rear tires.

    Sharpening a putty knife Home

Don't know about a putty knife, and a hoe, but you sharpen a wood chisel on both sides. (Hand plane too) The back side you lap flat, and then the front side is the bevel. I always sharpen my chisels and planes with a hone too, not a grinder, and finish with a black Arkansas stone for a mirror...

    Corn crib

I have seen metal cribs, but not exactly like that. Instead of holes punched in the metal, they had dimples pressed into the metal, about 3/4" slit at the bottom. Wire was more common, and wood more common still.

    Tractor Size v Implement Size

Just to add, that shear pin is their to protect the equipment and is sized/speced to do so. They are easy, quick, and cheap to replace, especially compared to a gear box or drive shaft.

    Shop Wiring

National Electric Code does not allow Romex or type NM cable in conduit, so that needs to be done with staples. One thing you can do is run the Romex high, mount a box at the ceiling, then run metal conduit or EMT down to the receptacle. Either strip off the sheath or just use plain wire in the...

putting aftermarket seat on a 311

My 311 RN had one when I got it. I think they have a universal plate on the bottom, so you might not need an adapter plate. But the seat is a little lower so it blocks access to the rockshaft grease fittings.

    Light Fixture question

Need height of the shop and the exact manufacture/model of the fixture to do an accurate calculation. But a quick calc says 12 will be good. If the walls are really dark use 15.

    Harvest 2021

Rusty, they may be a novelty item now, but they were once widely used. Remember when I was 5 or 6 years old going to my grandfather's farm during wheat harvest. He had a pull type JD, and it was a bagger, which was also very popular. Our job was to ride on the wagon, hop of, and throw the bags...

    Case VAC top link?

Conner, is that for a VAC or is it for a 100 or 30 series? Or did they change the center link on the VAC when they changed the steering linkage?
