    Duplicate threads

Are duplicate threads allowed here?? In the past several days there have been a few new threads started in multiple categories. Asking for a friend.

4020 Powershift pressure test results are in. Diagnosis needed.

I acquired a 71 Diesel PS a few years back in non running condition. Supposedly had sat for maybe 8+ years. Got it running after a cleaning and re seal of the injector pump. Changed hyd filters and pulled sump screen which was nearly pristine. Oil and filters have been completely changed twice...

1971 4020 PS test port thread size and passage flushing

Need to do some tests on B3 as I have an issue with reverse. Are the test ports 1/2"ORB thread, or something else? Also on the bottom of the trans case, inboard from the shift valve, there is another port labelled B3. Can that plug be removed temporarily to flush the passage when moving the...

    My forum wish

How hard would it be to make it a requirement to have at least a vague location in everyone's profile? Don't need your address, just a state would sure help. There are posts that have no meaning without the context of where the poster lives. Weather, auction prices, scrap prices, fuel...

    Editing and deleting posts

There seems to be a time frame of sorts where you can no longer edit a post after it has been up for a period of time. Also have not found a post delete button yet. Thanks for all your work on this new adventure.

    My observation concerning new format

Rather surprised at the struggles some are having adapting to the new YT. This site now closely resembles most other sites I am familiar with and frequent. It almost seems that the only format they know is the old YT. Do they not frequent enough other sites to be more familiar with what we have...

Sigh..... another 4020 repair for next spring

71 Powershift park just gave up the ghost for no apparent reason. 2 year old cable is fine. Lever and shaft going into trans case is rotating fine. Good thing the 158 loader and 8' snowblower will keep it from rolling away until I can fix it............ :

1971 4020 PS 540 pto stub shaft differences

Went to hook my #5 mower to the 4020 for the first time after selling the 730D and discovered the 4020 shaft does not have a hole through it like the 730 did. Came home from the salvage yard with a different stub shaft with the hole in it. At first glance they look the same, but on my original...

    FC and FCA cultivator differences

Looking to get a manual for my Case (Glencoe) field cultivator. Looking at manuals online I can't see the difference in the few pictures that are in the listings. So,,, how do I tell which model I have? Is there a visual difference somewhere ?

4020 fuel line from tank to pump

Its been a week long rodeo with fuel tank issues on my 71 4020 Diesel. After all that, now the steel line from the tank to the lift pump is dripping near the frame clamp. Likely got tweaked around when re installing the tank. Either rusted or cracked I guess. 1. Can that steel line be...

Green Parts of VA-- still open??

Maybe I was under a rock and missed any news, but why is there no price listed on any parts on the website?? Everything is $0.00

    4020 plastic fuel tank V 2.0.

Tank arrived today. Fast shipping, it was ordered last Friday. That's where the good news ends. The surface around the sending unit hole is no where near flat. I laid a 1" flat washer on the opening and there is nearly a 1/16" gap under the washer in the middle. I can't believe they send these...

    Hypothetical sparky question

If one had a tractor that was about 200' from the nearest outlet and for unseen reasons needed to start it in the winter, what exactly happens if you have 200' of 12ga extension cord running to it for the block heater? Does the whole cord generate some heat? Is any heating relegated to the...

    4020 poly fuel tank installation

For anyone that has installed one, did you put anything under the tank where it sits on the steel support? There are remnants of something there that was factory installed under the steel tank. Maybe a strip of epdm rubber would be a good idea, or not? Thanks.

    Cleaning bio diesel goo

Had an unseen, very slow fuel leak on the bottom of a tractor fuel tank. How does one clean up the gooey, sticky mess left behind by the bio??? Brake or carb cleaner don't seem to phase it. Would E 85 cut through the sticky goo? Any other suggestions?

    730 Diesel transfer pump removal

Why is the pump fighting me to remove it? I thought there is just a tang on the pump shaft that mates into a groove in the governor. Shouldn't the pump just pull straight out after the 2 mounting bolts are removed? I can rotate the pump housing, but it will not pull free.

    Late 4020 PS steers hard

1971 4020 Diesel PS has 2 finger steering during normal driving down the field as you make normal corrections. When turning around on headlands, if you steer fairly slow it is still 2 fingers. But the faster you try to turn the wheel, the harder it is to turn, as if there is less power assist...

730 Diesel countershaft bearing cap removal

Been too long since I've been inside the reduction cover. Can't remember if the countershaft bearing cap will come off with the pto idler gear and reduction gear in place. Thanks!

    4020 wheel weight question

Have a chance to buy a few correct weights for my 4020. It has 16.9 38's. Bone dry, never had fluid in these tubes, tires and rims. Would adding 2 weights per side be enough benefit to offset the lightening of my wallet? Has a 158 loader used for light duty property maintenance mostly. Some...

    730 Diesel head gasket question

Removed the clear shrink wrap from my new head gasket and found it has a slightly sticky clear coating on it. I am not sure how to proceed now. I was all set to spray copper coat on it before installing it, until I unwrapped it. So, what is on it to give it that sticky feeling? Do I remove...
