3020 tractor clutch noise

I have a 1964 3020 Diesel with PowerShift.

Yesterday it made a knocking/grinding noise whenever I pushed in the clutch pedal. Engine was turning low speed. I shut it off and restarted a few minutes later; no noise then. Parked it in the shed.

Any idea what might be happening?

I would check the hydraulic pump coupling for worn bushings, loose splines or not being assembled/tightened correctly.

Check the transmission oil level, the transmission and hydraulic filters and the transmission sump screen.
