Adjustable lift arm snapped, how hard are these to get?

The adjustable lift arm snapped on the right side of my 52 8N a few minutes ago. Not the actual arm that goes into the diff, but the one that attaches to that arm and also to a point next to the seat.

Is this the one I need?

I m sorry if I m not allowed to post links to websites but my other plow tractor is down and we have a huge snowstorm coming. This one is available now.

Sorry, I don t know what happened. Basically it said that my lift leveling arm snapped on the right side. Not the lift arm itself. I found this one at TSC and it seems to be the only one I can get quickly for the upcoming storm as my other plow tractor is also temporarily down

Sigma.40 ,You could use a short length of chain 5/16" or 3/8"wrapped around the lift arm pin and bolted ,then bolt the other end to the lift arm.Adjust the chain length to level up the two arms.
This will get you by till the correct leveling box is shipped to you and you can plow your drive out.

Here is the picture that the link you tried to post shows.

You can probably make that work, maybe with a longer pin or bolt for the top. This has a fork on both ends, the original leveling box has a fork on the bottom, and the top fits in a fork at the end of the upper lift arm.

Thank you. I ll give it a shot

Do you mean the lift arm leveling box? What snapped? The handle crank? The upper knuckle? Gotsta keep them greased up - that's why there is Zerk fitting on it. I'd
advise to get an OEM unit off of fleabay, they pop up all the time, or go to your local boneyard and locate a used one off of a tractor there. You may even be able to
just get the upper arm if that is what broke.

Sorry, I guess it won t let me post links

The problem may well be the link you tried to post. If it is a direct link to another site which this site's filters, see as a competitor in the parts business they will block the link and at times the entire post. Generally, it seems Classic blocks the link and shows the post. Modern blocks the entire post this would be why some reply they can't see your post.

It snapped about 2 inches above where it mounts to the lift arm.

After it snapped, it really had issues lifting the plow. Is that normal? Seems if it lifts from the bottom arm, that it should have at least lifted it a little. I m just worried that I have issues with the pump.

The lifting power is supplied by the rockshaft (top connection arms near the seat) via the leveling box (and lift link on the other side), not the lower draft link arms, which are just free moving links for pulling and pushing. Without that leveling box the lower draft link arm won't lift that side. The blade/plow is not going to lift level, as it is only being lifted on the left side, the right side might not even come off the ground. As has been noted, a short chain (or the adjustable link you found locally), between the rockshaft and lower draft link arm should lift it until you get the correct part.

What were you doing when it broke? Looks like you were doing a lot of pushing with the blade from the was it is bent.

Pulling snow at the time. My "driveway" is a 150ft x 150ft parking lot since my house used to be a used car dealer. I pull the snow, with the blade angled, about 135ft and then push it about the last 15ft. I did kind of hit the snow bank hard a couple times last weekend when I was plowing.

Weld it or have a shop do it. On mine the liftarm was cracked,so I arc-welded it.

You need to put the correct check drawbar chain kit on it before you tear up something else that includes the rear housing of the tractor and the hydraulics.

Google DCK1 Drawbar check chain kit.

Okay, what is that for?

I see a stabilizer bar front mount (under the fender) w/the necessary pin. Hopefully there is another one on the other side?? When using a rear blade pushing snow off to the side I strongly suggest a pair of stabilizer bars to keep the blade in the center!

There are 2 pins for stabilizers but I don t have them. I ordered some but they were the wrong size so I m waiting on new ones.

Chains and hardware to keep the lift arms in check. This is the new set I put on my ford 2000.

It looks like yours are mounted with a bolt to the rear housing its suppose to have a bracket to attach the chain. The chain itself is 7 links not counting the loops they attach to I have never been able to duplicate them so buy the kit with new hardware.
