Ford 851D Temp gauge

I am trying to replace the temp gauge on this 1962 851 diesel tractor. The one available and suppose to fit, the temp probe is too large a diameter. It does not fit in the block. Anyone know where I can find the one to fit this tractor ?

Are you sure you got all of the old one out? Sometimes they come apart and the bulb will be rusted into the hole.

The bulb looked complete and smooth sided, but I will check further. Thanks for the reply!!

When I replaced mine I had to get a different fitting to go into the block.

some suppliers are more generous about supplying bushings with their kits than others. when i did mine (diff tractor), i had a nice assortment to choose from.

I looked closer and there was a piece from the old bulb blocking the hole. Pulled it out and everything no works. Thanks for the help!!!
