Generator to Alternator Conversion on a Super 55

I have a gas Super 55 that I have had constant charging issues with. I'm ready to pull the plug on the generator/regulator and replace them with an alternator. I've checked this forum and not found the specifics I would like. Is there a preferred alternator of choice? Any wiring references someone could share? maybe even a wiring diagram from someone who's done this particular tractor? Any "gotchas" of which I should be aware?

You have to get back to the positive terminal on the battery since it's negative ground. That could be direct or through a voltmeter, starter solenoid, etc. Depends on your configuration. Search "one wire diagram tractor" on google and check out the images (and fuse locations). See if something you have fits one of the diagrams.
