Based on the casting number on the block I"d guess the engine is a Continental Z-129 so it"s most likely a TO-30. if the oil filter is on the right side of the engine and there is a screened hole in the dash to feed the air cleaner, then it definitely is. TO-30 serial numbers started at TO 60000 and went to somewhere in the TO 134000"s

thanks all,

The engine is a Continential motors, serial # 1459.
Looking for some advice, i.e. common problems, that I may encounter. I'm not sure what it's worth with the bucket and hoe. The current owner has owned it for the past 30 years and has not used it very much. I have no idea of the history beyond that.

Steve

cracked blocks are a "bane" to those continental engines. sometimes the only way to discover a cracked block is to take the cyl. head off. buyer be very aware.

Thats a Pippin excavator on the back and I love love love my Pippin excavator. They are frame mounted not 3 pt mounted. I would bet thers a sherman tranny in there too to keep PTO speed up for the Pippin.

I paid a LOT of money for my to-30 w pippin excavator and a wagner loader.

I would jump on that if it were near me.

Going to meet with the owner next month. He moved out of state and doesn't want to move the tractor to his new home. It hasn't had much use over the past 20 years or so. He is asking $3,200.00.
If runs well I will probably take the plunge. I will need to haul it from CT to VT; less than 150 miles.

I paid more than that for mine. I would jump on that because its a beast. Even with the stabilizers down you can pick the front wheels off the ground.

You will be bringing the Pippin closer to home. They were made by Cone Automatic Machine Company Windsor, VT. I think but am not sure that they were the first TLB hoe. I have only ever seen them on Fergusons. If you get and are dissatisfied I know someone who will take it off your hands :D
