New fuel pump problem DK40

Bought a new pump and went to install. The new pump has a part that sticks into the engine is not machined, it is just a casting and is too fat to fit in the hole on the engine. The original pump was machined in this area. The casting is about .020 too big to fit. I looked other replacement pumps and none of them seem to be machined in this area. All the pumps I looked at are from "then land of almost right." The only pumps I can find online are the same. Can I just machine off the extra?

Is thee a reason you didn't have your tractors original inj pump rebuilt? I just read your other thread pertaining to diesel getting into engine crankcase. One should be able to replace shaft seal or have inj pump shaft seal replaced
