Looks like someone had previously plumbed in an auxiliary hydraulic valve then took it off and joined the two ends with that valve? Somewhere in a nearby barn those two factory plugs are hiding. You could leave it as is or remove the valve and plug them back up.

If that valve is RATED at <2000 psi...? and IF that is Flared copper tubing...?
Certainly not Engineered.

Thank you Bob, so that s a working pressure relieve valve plummed back into the case for the transmission. And basically the valve can stay open or stay close for just bing up and down the driveway pushing snow or leaves etc?

NOKoolminx.....
That arrangement is a RED NECKED SOMETHING....????
What you have should not be on that Tractor.....
Inside the housing, is a Hydraulic Pump with a Relief valve, as per the picture I posted.....
IF for some reason, the HYDRAULIC PSI becomes greater than the working PSI of that RED NECKED SOMETHING, that RED NECKED SOMETHING could fail...
Valves that are engineered will have a WOG rating. WOG is the safe working PSI of WATER/OI/GAS.
NOW..Not all Valves have a WOG rating. eg. That valve you are concerned with maybe an over the counter Brass valve that is assumed the purchaser shall use it in a NON-Hazardous application, with an operating PSI <100PSI
That RED NECKED SOMETHING, is NOT PLUMBED back into the Transmission Housing, but rather the Housing that is part of the Differential. It connects the Transmission to the Differential.
On any MF 35's that I have seen, there was a VENT in the LIFT HOUSING. The vent is now plugged off on your pictures??
Bob..Owner 1963 MF 35 ..

So the right side as viewed had the mushroom cap vent for the case, and the left portion had a pressure pop off valve..

So if the working pressure bc exceeds the rating ov the valve the fluid would squirt out that valve? It seems dangerous to do that so close to the human private zone.

The short answer......

YES........The right side as viewed had the mushroom cap vent for the case

Either make sure the valve NEVER IS OPEN.....

OR Remove Valve as Valve should not be there.....

ADD a Pipe PLUG ....

OIL Relief VALVE is Attached to the Hydraulic oil PUMP inside the cassing ..

What that arrangement is on your tractor IS an accident looking for AN OPERTUNITY to hut someone.
Bob..

As far as I know, it s been like this about ten years, my customer thinks his father bought it this way and be instructed him to keep the valve closed, and inform whomever buys it that there s supposed to be a check valve in its place.
