Pulling the rear wheels off the axle?

Any suggestions on how to pull the rear wheels off the axle on a 1965 John Deere 1010? Pretty sure they have not been off in 30 years and definite they have not been off in the last 26. Tried to rig up a make shift puller using a draw bar and bolts but it started to bend and I knew where that...

    SAE 5W-30 hydraulic Oil

My 1965 John Deere 1010 service Manuel calls for SAE 5W-30 oil in the Hydraulic System. I have noticed when the tractor gets at or above normal operating temp the lift seems weaker. Could using standard hydraulic fluid cause this?

Thanks John T, I have had so much trouble with this tractor's charging system I have just about gave up on it. Thanks to your trouble shooting in have fixed all the issues. VR Cutout Relay Sticking

Today my "Gen" light on he dash was burning with about 1200 RPM on the motor. I lightly tapped the VR and it went out. Could this be the indicator of a sticking cutout relay and more frequent occurrences to come? Any one know how to service a cutout relay contact?

    Battery or generator?

Yes I did polarize the Ginny. I think it is just the weak battery. But I will be sick if I spend $90 on a new battery and the generator light is still on.

    Battery or generator?

Ok I will do that. I had the VR and Gen in a local shop and they said everything checked out with both but that may have been off the radar. Thanks.

    Generator light stays on

My generator light stay on and I am wondering if the battery is bad and would that cause it to burn? My gen and VR are working but my battery seems to have a dead dell or some similar problem because it will only take charge on the trickle mode and then looses it very quickly. Any one know about...

    1965 JD 1010 Color

Does anyone know the correct color of JD Green for a 1965 1010 RS? Getting ready to start the final step on the restore and want to make sure I get the the right green! I am guessing The New Generation or 1000 Series tractors had the same color as the 330 thru 830 Tractors.

    Polarizing a Negative ground gen

That's great because I read a post earlier today that gave me pause. With neg grounded systems being by far the most common today it would be likely for someone to accidentally hook up jumper cables wrong if I used the factory pos ground setup. Something I had never considered.

    Polarizing a Negative ground gen

Does it matter wether or not it is a neg ground or pos ground setup?
