    It sounds off to me too, given that nearly every coil for this application is listed as having 3 ohms. I am using a digital volt/ohm meter that has always been accurate. By calibrated, what are you referring to?

    I would tackle that steady stream from the cylinder first, that could be the source of all your woes. Your tractor has the 3" piston and cylinder, right? Did you say that the cylinder, piston, and rings are all new?

    I would definitely give JB Weld a try, that stuff can do some amazing work. The key is to clean and prep the surface very thoroughly and let it dry for a good long time before putting it to use, like a couple of days. At worst you are just back to where you started.

    Yep, sounds like a 6 volt coil to me. Probably should try a real 12 volt coil before anything else. Even if the Pertronix failure rate is as high as some say it is, it is still more reliable than points for me. Over the long run it is going to be cheaper due to fuel savings, spark plugs...

    I would just replace them when you do the cap and rotor or when you notice corrosion/cracked insulation/etc. Pertronix assured me that either type of wire will work.

    D16 is kind of a cold plug. My TO-35 really likes the Champion D18. Also, are you running points ignition? My plugs stay much cleaner since I switched to the Pertronix setup.
