    4000 3 cyl diesel rear main seal ?

    yes, all bolts were in. flywheel runout is good. i'll put the gasket back in, i have a new plate ordered from Wengers in PA. for $16 i could not justify trying to straighten it out. i'm still not sure what bent the plate, but the gasket seems to be a must. thanks.

    doing a clutch in 4000, replacing the rear main while its apart, there was a cork gasket behind the adapter plate bolted on the rear of the engine. it looks like it has swelled, pushing the plate out and it was rubbing on the flywheel. is this gasket needed in there? i would think if it was not...

    there is absolutly no square headed plugs on the hyd housing, there are also no pipe thread holes that someone had put an allen plug in. all of the plugs are hex head with washers under the head.
