    Old shop vice

Can't make all the name out, but if it has Athol Mass. on it, probably a L.S. Starrett brand, they make good vises, wish I had one.

    Forks

I don't know, but having a grapple is like having a hired hand. Cleaning up after cutting a tree down saves a lot of wear and tear on the back. Got mine from Everything Attachments, third function valve from Kubota, more time in an air conditioned cab, less time dragging limbs to the trailer...

    Lathe tools

Most questions answered, the faceplate may be for driving lathe dogs. Some lathes spindle noses have an internal taper so you can use a common dead center on the headstock. The short "center" looking piece might be for putting in a three or four jaw chuck and turning between centers. I always...

Got bitten by the love bug.

I don't know, a few years ago was looking for a little bigger tractor than my Kubota BX2360, dealer had a B2650 with cab, heat and air, loader with ssqa. It was previous years model and didn't think I needed a cab,but man whether in summer when cutting a tree down, and loading on trailer, its...

    3300 Carb Issue

Carb issue on JD 3300. Was cutting seed yesterday and engine started acting up. No power and would not rev up much. Shut down and looked it over this AM. The fuel solenoid on bottom of carb had lost the plug out of bottom and a small needle type valve with spring too. There is no...

How to clean 100% silicone off new shower surround

I put in an Onyx shower surround, basically the same as fiberglass. They recommended to apply the silicone to the joints then wet the entire surface with denatured alcohol using a regular spray bottle. I was surprised how easy it was to clean up the excess silicone.

    Body shops

I should add, had some damage to my 08 F350 srw on the left rear quarter, required new rear bumper and fixing a dent in the quarter panel (left box side), I didn't want to run through insurance, body shop said it would save me about $1000 if they didn't replace the whole box side. Replaced the...

    Body shops

Not an expert, only have advice from my paint jobber but the reason the clear coat is there is to keep the base coat from fading. The clear coat is cheaper than the color coat so it saves money for the manufacturer if they don't have to apply so much color. If you don't mind, its okay, but the...

    International 2606 3 Point Issue

Hello all, I have an old but good 2606 industrial with some issues im sorting. The 3 point does not lift. If I set a position and then move the remote lever it will lift the 3 point to the position and hold it. There is also an odd hydraulic line with a ball valve, if I close the ball valve the...

The reason nothing's made in America

dpittman you described my workplace...I've been the same place 30+years, started right out of tech school to be a toolmaker. I now make a good wage, great benefits, clean climate controlled environment. Was the manager of the toolroom for many years, I know how hard it is to hire people, the...

    Carpal Tunnel

I had both done about five years ago, had wrap on each until the second day, incision was about 3/4" long, had band-aid on for few more days. Was limited to lifting 10 lbs. I think for four or five weeks. Immediate relief and haven't had a problem since.

    That's getting it Done.

Nice, but why don't any of the combines have rear wheels? The middle one seems to have an extra front wheel?

    Gluten free apple pie?

My mom was diagnosed as a celiac over twenty years ago, she was also lactose intolerant before that so kind of had to get use to not having full access to two food groups. She always reads labels and us kids are always on the look out for mixes or pre-packaged food for her. The recent...

    farmall 300How do

I found them hard to get a wrench on there too, being a toolmaker I machined the the 9/16 hex nut down to 1/2 inch hex, but not the whole height of the nut, left enough at the bottom so had the same bearing width and the 1/2 wrench has more clearance.

    kubota b2620

When I went shopping for a mower after I bought a small acreage, liked the idea of having a loader too, so bought a Kubota BX2360. It mows good, don't have a golf course type lawn and the loader is handy as anything I've ever owned. I have found it better to remove the mower when using the...
