    John Deere 520 Starting Issue

    You need a new starting switch that sets on the starter. Its wired so that when you step on starter, 2 poles touch and runs current to the coil so it has 12 volts to start. if switch goes bad it will start,but shut off as soon as you let up on pedal

    I think it was from #6000000 - 6013899 that they used a single barrel carb #72 for all fuel, then they used a #84 for the dual induction carb all fuel if what Im reading is correct

    Have you checked the compression? Just went through that with a 45 B,acted the same way.     What did the 520 have for a air cleaner from the factory? The parts book shows only a cleaner with a cast base like a 530,but the rest of it looks like a air cleaner from a B that has slits cut into it to draw in the air.Or did they have one like the 530 also.Thanks

    First reduction oil

    Just got a new to me 520,jump up from the unstyled's to this. Have the manual so started to change all fluids and noticed it said to drain first reduction and it will take a quart to refill it. But it had over 3 quarts in it??? The transmission was low because when I pulled the check level plug...

    Automatic fuel shut on 720

    I have 2 730-gas and they are the same as that 720 except the fuel inlet is back toward the back of the tractor and it has a 'T'shutoff no longer available from Deere on it. All steel lines also. You can shut off the fuel and take off carb and or auto shutoff with out draining the tank.Best...

    Wico C mag bushing

    Whats the best way to install new brass bushings? It seems more times than not when I get them installed, they are too tight and have to be reamed out for the rotor to turn freely,yet not have any play. I use a small press to install them and try not to put any more pressure than is needed...

    Where can a new back rest be purchased for a 52 B with the metal back green? It seems everybody that I call has a black metal plate where you attach the decal. It seems a little hard to paint and still look good. Thanks
