    New to me 1956 case 311 questions

    In my searches it seemed that a triple range was mated with a hand clutch and a dual range was a shuttle, probably the farm/utility mindset of the unit. My 320 skip predates the 311b, wish I had the shuttle but I have the triple range.

    You'll want to break the lines on both sides of the cylinder and leave them open enough to flow if there's any unexpected flow. As you pull the piston/rod you'll be drawing a suction on the base side and draining-flowing on the rod side. Might watch a youtube vid on the process...

    My 320 skip had dash problems, I built a custom dash out of tin and mounted a reverse sweep tach (they're like $30) and then some digital gauges (oil, water temp, something else). I think that rebuilds are pretty expensive for a daily use unit.

    you can probably just google the two types of hoes and see the diff - pay attention to the pivot at dipper shape, Honestly there's probably a tag on the hoe. A parts catalog will also help you identify it. The operators manual, parts manual are indispensable for working on these.
