    Thank you for the advice. I was able to get the pump to prime after removing a plug on the top of the pump and putting in as much fluid as possible. I cycled the starter a few times and then added more fluid. I also loosened the pressure line and cycled the starter . I then started the...

    Are you referring to the pressure line from the pump to the control valve or from the control valve to the cylinder. I am not sure which line is the pressure line.

    I removed the hydraulic cylinder from my ih 240 utility tractor and the hydraulic pump has now lost its prime. Is it possible to add some hydraulic oil to the pump by removing the check ball and set set screw to prime the pump or is the best option to pressurize the the reservoir with air?
