    Sorry for the confusion, The original 60 year old distributor was rather worn so I replaced it with a new aftermarket one, I removed it to install the pointless conversion thats when I retimed it. The spark was good with the aftermarket (China) points but I was concerned about reliability. I...

    I installed Pertronix ignition conversion, retimed the distributor, new plugs and set the aftermarket carb main jet to 2 turns from fully closed and idle jet to 1 turn from fully closed. Thanks again to everyone!

    How do I crank with the key off? I tried removing the plugs and jacking up the rear tires but could not spin the tires to turn the crank.

    I removed the valve cover and brought the number 1 piston up with the intake and exhaust valves closed while watching the timing marks. I will try the spray bottle technique. Thanks to everyone.

    Fresh gas, fully charged battery. I placed the spark plug against the cylinder head and had a strong blue spark. Plugs gapped at recommended gap. Thanks

    With the choke completely closed and hand over the air intake on both carbs I cannot figure out why the plugs are not wet. Float bowls are full and floats are set according to factory specs. Wish I could go to fuel injection, LOL.
