Ford 7000 with pieces of needle bearing that fell out when draining oil

I'm calling the pinion gear the pinion shaft. What I'm asking is would my pinion gear that is in my 7000 bolt into the 5000 housing, I would also use the ring gear set up from my 7000, so they would stay paired. The top cover has been gone for a while as there is some rust on pinion gear and...

Ford 7000 with pieces of needle bearing that fell out when draining oil

I have checked with Omega tractor parts and they said they didn't have anything that matched my casting number. Thanks! So going back to the junkyard center housing I found, I took some measurements on the outside and compared to mine and that looks the same, both have external...

Ford 7000 with pieces of needle bearing that fell out when draining oil

Thanks for the input. So its going to be difficult to know if it will work unless I set them side by side and compare and find out if there is a difference that will cause an issue.

Ford 7000 with pieces of needle bearing that fell out when draining oil

So my 73 7000 with center rear housing part number DONN 4024 F has load monitoring, an external filter, no oil cooler plumbed in, 540 pto, originally had pawl for brake but I converted it to band style 3 years ago. Mine matches the 72 7000 of your brothers as far as options but number is...

Ford 7000 with pieces of needle bearing that fell out when draining oil

Went to salvage yard and found a rear center differential housing on a 5000, my 7000 tractor part number is DONN 4024F, the number on the salvage tractor is DONN 4024 with no letter at the end, what does the F mean on mine, note mine has load monitoring and the salvage tractor does not. Will...

Ford 7000 with pieces of needle bearing that fell out when draining oil

I'm in Southwestern WI, close to Lacrosse WI, so Tennessee would be a long drive and I would have to find someone to haul it, but thanks FOMOCO Farmer. So am I correct in saying that if I found a 5000 center housing with external filter I'm assuming a spin on filter that it would have had load...

Ford 7000 with pieces of needle bearing that fell out when draining oil

Found what is supposed to be three 5000 fords at a junkyard, they have no idea if they are 5000 with load monitoring or not, does anyone know what the casting numbers would be on a 5000 rear diff center housing with load monitering would be? Sounds like a 5000 diff center housing from a 5000...

Ford 7000 with pieces of needle bearing that fell out when draining oil

Thanks for the info, tractor is a 73, originally had old style pto brake but updated to band style 2-3 years ago-much better design.

Ford 7000 with pieces of needle bearing that fell out when draining oil

So since I don't have tractor split at this time I checked endplay on pinion shaft and had to really pry with a pry bar to barely get .0005. Don't think there is anything major with pinion shaft bearings. So I'm in the process of finding a center housing.

Ford 7000 with pieces of needle bearing that fell out when draining oil

So since I don't have tractor split at this time to properly check rolling torque with a spring scale I checked endplay on pinion shaft and had to really pry with a pry bar to barely get .0005 so don't believe there is anything major with pinion shaft bearing wear. So I'm in the process of...

Ford 7000 with pieces of needle bearing that fell out when draining oil

Can't imagine it would work well without the pilot bearing. Plan to see if I can find a housing. It looks like a housing from a 5000 would work, I have load monitering, single pto diff lock on mine with the 8 speed trans with 2 reverse with no dual power. Does anyone know if there is any other...

Ford 7000 with pieces of needle bearing that fell out when draining oil

I removed the right rear wheel, axle housing and brake assembly and differential before i realized your suggestions to split between trans and rear center housing and found the pinion pilot bearing housing busted, did not find any pieces of housing in rear end so this was busted out before I got...

Ford 7000 with pieces of needle bearing that fell out when draining oil

Pulled the top off of rear end and can just see down in front of differential to where that pinion bearing is and can see that the rollers are definitely missing. So I guess the next thing is to remove right wheel, axle and axle housing and remove the differential to inspect for damage.
