Govenor questions on 1941 A, engine races

I had the same problem on my 44 A. For 14 yrs I thought the governor was bad but never got around to tearing into it. Recently I started tinkering with it again because I'm going to paint it again. The rod from governor to carb had a few slight bends in it. I took it off and straightened it out...

    thermastat

    thermastat

A unpressurized system is better known as thermosiphon. Anytime a engine isn't at operating temperature the engine is damaged more than...

    thermastat

Whether it is a parade queen or not whenever it is used it should be made to run at operating temperature. If not sludge can build up...it won't burn off condensation and plugs foul up more often.

    thermastat

Do you have a temp gauge? It is very important the engine runs at operating temp. You should have shutters or a curtain. WD's have a thermostat and no by-pass hose.

    D-17 brake question

Yes they all have the springs at the top....this is what makes the brakes retract along with another spring on each brake rod. See the hole located by 01 in the pic? That is where the anchor pin goes through that holds your brake shoes together at the bottom.
