    Tire Chain - Cut down?

My 8N has 11.2x28 rear Ag tires. I have a set of chains on them. You can see they wrap around quite a bit. I m getting a new Massey 1526 in a week that has 14-17.5 rear industrial tires. I should be able to cut these shorter in length and keep the same width probably, right? Or...

    New Massey Parts Source

I m replacing my old 8N with a new MF 1526. I ve found many good sources of parts for the 8N in the past. Are there also great sources for newer Massey Ferguson tractors, or does the dealer have the corner on the market?

    Thanks!

Too much! It moved it but like you said, it takes some time!

    Thanks!

Hey everyone! Thanks for all the help over the years with my 8N. I learned a lot about maintenance of tractors. Most importantly, I learned the value of patience and that most problems are a SIMPLE fix. You don't have a bad coil, you have a loose connection. You don't have a shot engine, you...

    1948 8N - Clutch?

This fixed it, driving it and hitting the brakes. Guess I m glad I fixed the brakes last year.

    1948 8N - Clutch?

1948 Ford 8N. I have had my 8N running great for a few years, it has become my go-to snow removal tool. It has sat for a few months awaiting the winter. I started it up today and when I depressed the clutch pedal, it was grinding as I attempted to engage the PTO shifter - same with the...

    Ford 800 Series Front Tires

Hey all! My brother has a Ford 800 series that he is mowing with. The front ribbed tires are tearing up the lawn when he turns. Does anybody make a turf tire that would fit? Or an automotive rim/tire that would work? Or whatever other solution you can think of? Thanks!

    8N: Replaced brakes, too tight

So I just plowed some snow with it and here's more info. The pedal has more resistance and I have excellent brakes. If you then drive forward and the wheel rotates 180*, the pedal has to go all the way to the floor with little resistance and hardly any braking power.

    8N: Replaced brakes, too tight

Hey all, So I did the left side of my Ford 8N so far, redoing the seals and all the brake shoes and components. After I figured out how to get the springs on and that there is a difference between a top shoe and bottom.... I got it all put back together. Good news, the left brake is...

    Ford 8N Brake Springs

Gotcha, I'll pick some up. The top shoe feels right but the bottom shoe feels like it's not quite sitting right in relation to the deal that moves when you press the peddle.

    Ford 8N Brake Springs

So, I just redid the axle seals (on the left side) and am now putting in all new brake stuff (shoes, springs, etc...). I've never worked on brakes like that. This photo isn't mine, Bruce posted it once, but it is representative of my situation: So I got the adjuster wheel in and the red...

    Replacing the 8N

    What's the difference between 860 and 861?

    Replacing the 8N

Awesome info thanks so much! Yep that's the 4000. The 5000 is on tractor house in Jordan. There's also an 861 in Cambridge. Only $4,600 and I could use the $2k in savings towards my shed this spring. I know it probably isn't as nice as the 4000 but would be an improvement.

    Replacing the 8N

Hey! So I’ve really grown to enjoy the 8N, especially with it running better than it ever has (thanks to this forum). However, I’m looking to upgrade. I'd primarily like live/independent PTO, lower gearing and a bit more horsepower. I'd like to run brush mowers, snow blowers, maybe an FEL...

    My tractor hates me...

Thanks All! I swear I hadn't touched the starter with this conversion. But I took it off, lightly cleaned up the mating surfaces, stuck it back in and tried. Got a spark near the copper bar. I tightened those nits (how the heck did they get loose) and Bam, she fired up like it was 1948. As...
