    O.T.

Ooops, made a mistake, the formula for PSI PSI = (HP *1452) / GPM TOH is correct, these are MAX numbers. Joe

    O.T.

LWD, There are some formulas that you need to figure out what HP is required. Basically it depends on GPM and pressure. For pumps, HP req. = (GPM*PSI)/1452 GPM = (DISP * RPM)/231 PSI = (disp * RPM) /RPM Hope this helps Joe

    O-California vet 'law'

Lee, I feel your pain, I just dropped $194 at the vets last weekend for the "exam" and the rabies shot. Yep, we also have a helmet law in this wonderful land of blue!

    Oil can drain plug

Seems to me that if you have the one with the oil line to the GOV., you already have a drain. When you shut off the engine, the oil will drain from the can into the GOV. with the help of gravity. Joe

    homemade trickle charger

Chris, Plug in the unit, set the DVM to volts, put one probe on each wire. If the meter reads minus, the red probe is connected to the minus. If the meter reads positive, then the red lead is connected to the plus. Joe

Does a Sherman take more oil than reg tranny

Oswalt, Simple answer is yes same amount. The sherman is splash lubed from the main tranny. It has about a quart in it but you cant get it out without splitting the tractor so if you change the oil, the sherman oil will eventually get replaced with clean oil. Joe

    Tractor won't shut off

Frank, If its a 12 volt conversion, it might be the lack of or the failure of the isolation diode. Bob is asking the same question. If there is no isolation from the sense line on the alt. the alt will back feed the ignition circuit and keep the tractor running. If its a 6 volt tractor I am...

I remember when I was a kid, it was selling for 25 cents a gallon. A nickels worth would keep my minibike going for the whole weekend! What ever happened to the good ol' days? Joe

Briggs 14.5 hp OHV IC starting/cranking problem

I have had the same problems. I have a 13 HP I/C and a 18 HP OHV and they both are a bear to start when it gets cold out. I have given up as they are both new engines. I use a torpedo heater to preheat the head on the engine and then she will start right up but below 40F forget it without the...

    What am I missing here?

Hi all, I have a vertical crank briggs engine #31M777 and I am trying to put the charging system together. my engine has the 9 / 5 amp dual coil alternator with the 2 pin plug. I purchased a 691185 voltage regulator and hooked it up to the alternator plug. I also hooked the red wire up to the...

    2n charging

Doug, The likelihood that you fried the alternator is pretty slim. Those engineers who design that stuff always consider that the battery might be open or a fusible link might go south so they bound the output of the regulator. I guess you found out that open circuit and no load, the upper...

    Rear main seal change?

I did it on mine, wasnt leaking but I did it anyway with no problem, there was enough slop when I loosened the bearing caps to do it but it wasnt fun getting the new rope in. Joe
