    New issue with shuttle 580B

Well, I started hearing a bearing noise when first starting the 580B. I previously took apart the shuttle from the top and put in a new pump. I found bearing parts (like old bearing cage from needle bearing) laying in the well or sump for the pump. Noise goes away somewhat when fluid warms up...

    580B 4 in 1 bucket

I couldn’t find one that fit my machine. The GP bucket I have does ok but I pulled some small trees out and wanted to grab them and move them. That is what gave me the idea that I wanted a 4 in 1. I could have bought a used skid steer, could have bought a mini excavator etc. live and learn...

    580B 4 in 1 bucket

I didn’t weld any of this. Penn Equipment (Port Carbon, PA) did all the fab work since they had it. $5k at the fab place could have bought myself a nice plasma cutter and whatever 220 welder I need. I hate having to pay others to do what I don’t have the equipment for. Live in learn… I...

    580B 4 in 1 bucket

I got a million projects going on but this winter I hope to have a proper place to work on big equipment. In the process of building a pole barn… #4 cylinder doesn’t fire but it still has some compression blows out raw smoky diesel. Hopefully it’s something simple. I bought it complete minus...

    580B 4 in 1 bucket

At first I was a little upset with myself because as the problems with the bucket kept piling on… I just got deeper and deeper into my wallet. But, anything is possible if you’re determined enough lol. I’m going to fix the other 580B and switch my old parts to it and hope to recoup some of...

    580B 4 in 1 bucket

I tried to post a video but says too large?? Anyway, I might have the only 580B with a functional 4 in 1…. Cost way more than I intended. I hope it works like I envisioned lol. Anyhow, just like fixing up an antique car, I spent more than it’s worth. Just wanted to share.

    580B 4 in 1 bucket

Anyhow, the fab shop rebuilt the cylinders while they had the bucket so once I got it home it would all work. Now, the pins they made perfectly matched the mount they rigged up. Only problem it didn’t quit fit my backhoe arms. Got 3 pins in, the 4th was like a mm off but nothing a pry bar...

    580B 4 in 1 bucket

4 in 1 welded up. We decided to just move the one mount and make a spacer with bushing inside. The fab shop then made me some longer pins (wish they were grease able).

    580B 4 in 1 bucket

Anyhow, soon discovered what a PIA it is to work with case metal hydraulic lines 50 years old. Switching from 2 spool to 3 spool the lines didn’t quite match up. That was fine but manageable. Major problems discovered when I learned that the mounts on the K bucket didn’t match the mount the...

    580B 4 in 1 bucket

So, I wanted to be able to doze some and pick up some stuff with my 580B. Found a parts 580B (only running on 3 cylinders) that used to have a side dump bucket so has a factor 3 spool loader valve and extend a hoe which mine doesn’t. Purchased and had shipped to my house Found a beat up case...

1973 580B fuel tank removal and other questions

Just wanted to post back hate when people don’t update… Okay, didn’t have to remove fuel tank, was able to change out my shuttle hydraulic pump and checked screen. Replaced all gaskets, seals, o-rings etc. Didn’t touch clutches in shuttle just replaced the pump. Backhoe pushes dirt like a...

1973 580B fuel tank removal and other questions

Ok, disappointed… I knew the previous owner was in the shuttle hydraulics as he marked some things… but the screen was clean so he got all the way in, the pump is pretty loose, the one o-ring was 1/2 out of place, but most concerning is I found gouges in the power shuttle control spool (forward/...

Use Case TCH or newer more modern Hy-Tran or?

Mine is weird, all models I have seen referenced say the posi lock pedal is on the left. Mine has the pedal right by the emergency brake/ accelerator pedal. At least I think it’s the posi, controls a lever that goes into the transmission…
