Ford 860 12 volt conversion question

Thanks for the info. Previous owner replaced the 6 volt starter in 2014 prior to my 12 volt conversion. I don't think I'll replace it if it's not a likely cause of my problem.

Ford 860 12 volt conversion question

I recently had an issue with the starter on my 55 Ford 860 failing to release from the ring gear. I was able to free it with some difficulty. After removal I noticed some damage to a section of the ring gear. I found a past post that stated this could be caused by using a 6 volt starter on a...

    Transmission inspection plate/Thermostat

I am a first time tractor owner with a 1955 Ford 860. I drained the transmission fluid for changing. I also removed the transmission inspection plate which is located near the drain plug. There was about ? inch of crud on the top side of the plate. When cleaning it off I found a bent cotter...

    Ford 860 hydraulic issue

I warmed up my tractor yesterday and the 3 point began working after 15 minutes or so. Tried again today with the temperature warmer at about 40 degrees and the 3 point worked right away. Thanks for the advice.

Temp was much colder at 30 degrees when issue arose. Fluid is full and was changed a year ago. Had a sagging issue last year and...

More info on Ford 860 hour meter issue

Installing auxiliary hour meter on my 55' Ford 860. Tractor is converted to 12 volt. Used the same power source for my hour meter as I did for my volt meter. Volt meter works hour meter does not. Used multi meter to check voltage at power source. With key on but engine off I get 12 volts...

    860 proof meter issue

I bought my 55 Ford 860 4 years ago with the hour meter reading all zero's. The tach appears to work fine. Any idea whether the hour meter can be fixed or do I likely need a new proof meter. I tried installing an auxiliary hour meter. I used the same power source as I did for my volt meter...

1955 Ford 860 hydraulic backpressure valve removal

Hello I'm a newbie on the forum and first time tractor owner. My 1955 ford 860 3 point bounces and also sags down slowly when the tractor is running and my 5 foot brush hog is attached. I've removed the lift cover to change O-rings on valves and piston. My issue is that I've been unable to...
