    UDLX Horn Location

UNC, My grandfather told me the same thing many, many moons ago as well. For instance, on the ZT, the early tractors had hood side panels that had the rods to hold them up. No part number change though. It also required a change to the radiator fan shroud. But I still love me some prairie gold.

    ZTU road gear problem

As mentioned by T.R.K., my '40 ZTU will practically "die" if I attempt to take off from a complete stop in road gear. I am not "interested" in "feathering" the clutch that much. I always use a lower gear to at least get the unit rolling then shift to 5th. Just a thought but just something I...

    Minneapolis puller

The tractor is called "Xtra Butter" and has a big block Deere engine in it IIRC, owned by Russ Yoder from Topeka, IN. It's a good running tractor and always a joy to see an MM on the track even if it's heart isn't MM; just gives the brand some exposure...

Optional "Red" Tail Light for ZT Series

Hi Charles, I completely understand your questions and have asked the same. The only thing I could think of is this unit was what Guide was marketing at the time for both automotive and ag applications. I truly do not know, only speculation. With that being said, I doubt there was much night...

Optional "Red" Tail Light for ZT Series

Thank you for your message. You are correct, the fenders were switched from flat top to full crown in late '38 through '44. 1945 was the beginning of the clam shell. Is it possible those MHS photos were prototypes? Yes. Is it possible they were production units? Yes. They both have...

Optional "Red" Tail Light for ZT Series

Thank you John. Would your version of the generator bracket be as rare as a crankcase with no starter housing hole? Or possibly the "mate" to one?

Optional "Red" Tail Light for ZT Series

You are welcome, this was actually a fun adventure. Yes it took time and some money but it was worth it. I will say, while working at OEM, I had a fun time making the 7" rear combination light, both 6 and 12 volt. This was long before Steiner began retailing China repops so we did use old...

Optional "Red" Tail Light for ZT Series

Hi Charles, I appreciated reading your message. I actually did speak with a few AC guys and they let me know their "version" of the light is pretty much considered one of the most difficult parts to find for the B and C tractors (their words not mine). This light unit in question was replaced...

Optional "Red" Tail Light for ZT Series

MMDEL, Good morning and thank you for the information. You are correct, per parts books, both the R and the RTI call for this light. I have not seen it mounted on either of those units so I would love seeing it if you have any interest in taking a photo or two. The mounting bracket part # is...

Optional "Red" Tail Light for ZT Series

Sorry for the length of read, just wishing to share. Having acquired my 40 ZTU from my grandfather s estate sale in the fall of 97, I had begun immersing myself in a parts book and operator s manual to learn as much as I could about this machine. No matter what I "thought" I knew previously...

    Years Uni-s Were Made

Cowpuncher, thank you very much for the information, love hearing first-hand info and stories. Would you mind sending me a direct email message? I have a couple questions I would like to ask and its simply easier to do via regular email. Thank you for your time. Aaron...
