    EARLY 50'S ROTARY CUTTER

@Tx Jim @Baseball Fan thanks for that feedback. I’ll investigate some more when I get further along with my two B’s.

    EARLY 50'S ROTARY CUTTER

Didn’t realize these photos didn’t load. The first ones don’t show much

    EARLY 50'S ROTARY CUTTER

These are not great photos but best I could get where it is at the moment.

1951 B POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE GROUND

The photos are kinda obvious if you look at details, but nevertheless just clarifying for anyone taking a quick glance.

1951 B POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE GROUND

I should also note, my photos of the tractors above are actually two different tractors, not the same one from both sides. I just took the shots that were easy to get inside the garage.

@NY 986 Thanks for that as well. I'll try to get some decent photos this weekend.

    EARLY 50'S ROTARY CUTTER

@Jim.ME Thanks. I'll probably check it over good and hook it up one time to see what works/don't work. I will probably leave it's finish as it is since one of my tractors is going to stay that way too. They look cool together if nothing else.

    EARLY 50'S ROTARY CUTTER

Is there much interest or do many people get into restoring the equipment as much as the tractors? With my first B acquisition I also got what I believe is an early 50s rotary cutter. I know for sure it is a John Deere- even though its rather rusty it still has the tag. I have not spent...

    1950 late B Eccentric bushing

@Mark-Ia I agree and will most likely do that when I can find a good one local. Got it running first, and just figured out what they had done previously so making those plans. The first concern was with the production range and if there was a split. Once that was 100% confirmed I was able...

    1950 late B Eccentric bushing

@Mike(NEOhio) @sds46a Thank you for the feedback. I do plan to remove this shaft pretty soon and see what I can find near the bottom. I've only been able to disassemble the top portion so far.

1951 B POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE GROUND

@Jim.ME sorry for any confusion. It’s the same alternator just from both sides. I just completely eliminated the alternator temporarily and fixed everything else like negative ground, installed and set some new points and it’ll run. Decided that was enough for tonight until my carburetor...

1951 B POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE GROUND

@Jim.ME @Fixingfarmer thanks guys. Your thoughts all match what I see and think. We just never know what these guys have done in the field over the years. I will get some pictures later this evening when I get back in front of the tractor.

1951 B POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE GROUND

@Jim.ME Thanks for the feedback as well. I'm thinking it was either partially converted or just incorrectly done. Unfortunately the previous owner is no longer with us, so you can't ask questions, just have to figure it out. It's just odd that it appears they left everything else as it...

1951 B POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE GROUND

@Hay maker2 Thank you for that reply. This was also my immediate thought too. I had read where some people would reverse some things in the alternator wiring to make it work, but thought I'd check here. I'll check into swapping some things around later and see what happens. Thanks again...
