Sounds like I should be throttling down.

Geared tractor non-live pto, necessary to throttle down going from forward to reverse??

Yes, because it was the lowest hour tractor at the best price. There's not a lot to choose from here in Arizona in the way of tractors and they are all over priced, so I couldn't choose everything I would want. I bought a 2023 Kubota L2501 (30 hours) with loader and box scraper. It has R4...

Geared tractor non-live pto, necessary to throttle down going from forward to reverse??

I will say, it could be because I've only used this new tractor a few hours, but I've found it a bit more touchy letting out the clutch with the PTO engaged to keep it from banging compared to the old jubilee.

Geared tractor non-live pto, necessary to throttle down going from forward to reverse??

Jim, thanks for the reply. I guess the modern tractors have a built in over-running clutch so that's not a concern. Yes it's a single stage clutch. I just looked through the manual and don't see anything specific about going from forward to reverse and vise versa regarding the PTO. They do...

Geared tractor non-live pto, necessary to throttle down going from forward to reverse??

Howdy all. So I've been using a Jubilee for the past 8 years to mow and grade the road and driveway. I bought a new Kubota L2501 non-live PTO geared tractor (non HST) and from what I'm reading in Kubota forums when I am mowing and I need to go from forward to reverse I need to clutch it...

Jubilee won't go into gear (when running) after removing shifter cover to change starter button

Found this on ebay and thought it was a good find and interesting. A made in the USA clutch probably from the 50's. New old stock made by Precision Gear Company in Harvey Illinois. Notice the adjustable finger screws! I guess my only question is, would you trust the friction disc after sitting...

Jubilee won't go into gear (when running) after removing shifter cover to change starter button

Gotcha. Understood. I am now well armed with knowledge when I go to split. I put a flared splice connection in the oil pressure gauge tube and the headlight wire where the tractor splits to facilitate the next split, so that will make it a little easier. Thanks again!

Jubilee won't go into gear (when running) after removing shifter cover to change starter button

I'm not usually a 'mask the problem' kind of guy. When I installed the clutch I worked the pedal and watched how far the TO bearing slid on its' shaft. It really couldn't go any further, - it looked like it travelled the full amount but just maybe not enough to move the fingers enough once...

Jubilee won't go into gear (when running) after removing shifter cover to change starter button

I had the throw out bearing that came with the clutch but I also bought an American made TO bearing to use instead (because I like USA made) and they looked the same and cross referenced. I have no idea why so much free play but I suspect a stack up of worn everything and the clutch fingers.

Jubilee won't go into gear (when running) after removing shifter cover to change starter button

UPDATE #2: It was short lived. I mowed a little and took it in and out of gear and it was already starting to become hard to get it back in gear (grinding) especially at 1500 rpm. If I brought it down to idle it was a lot better and I could force it in without too much trouble. I just don't...

Jubilee won't go into gear (when running) after removing shifter cover to change starter button

Maybe I have something to give back already. The reason I was changing some electrical components (starter button) was because I was having an issue with the tractor running for 15-30 minutes and then dying. This was repeated over and over again which of course makes you think it was the...

Jubilee won't go into gear (when running) after removing shifter cover to change starter button

UPDATE: I adjusted the clutch linkage strut/screw so that the pedal traveled all the way to the floor board. This gave it just enough pedal to release the clutch. It goes into all gears now - a little sticky in 1st gear still but it goes. I'm thinking that between the clutch fork being...
