    4960 4wd issues

So I got a 4960 that is stumping me with the 4 wheel drive. Tractor was stuck in 4wd to begin with. I could not get 12 volts to the solenoid in any position of the switch. Long story short, switch had loose contact and was shorting against another wire. I replace the switch and it seemed to be...

    4020 hydraulic pump

So, I'm probably about to ask a question that's been answered hundreds of times but here we go. I got a 65 4020 with a leak coming from the pump. I am getting a good steady trail of oil coming down the left side of the pump. My guess is it's a plug or connection maybe. What steps do I take...

    4850 steer tires.

I have a '83 4850 running 11.00x16 4 rib fronts. I'm working in soft dirt with a heavy five bottom turn over plow and I can't turn for crap at the top of the field. I was wonder if going up a size, buying new rims and tires, to 14lx16.1s would help. My neighbor has 16.5x16.1 4 rib on his 4850...

4020 oil bath to dry element.

I have a '65 JD 4020 with a precleaner stack that is oil bath. Is there a way to change it to a dry element? I know you can find a used dry cleaner assembly form all states Ag for $550 bucks plus frieght. I've heard you can take the guts outta a oil bath and replace it with dry element guts...

    1965 JD 4020 frostplug

So yesterday my tank heater, the factory coolant heater AR42326, burned out. Priced out a new Ar42326, $240 bucks, ouch. I was never impressed with that heater. I was wondering if there's a frost plug I can add to a 65 4020. Also do oil heaters work, will it warm the whole block? I was told they...

    John Deere 7100 Planter

So my local Deere dealer has a 7100 3pt type with nsect boxes new chains and openers two years ago. It is a 8 row, no marker and nothing extra. 5 grand. Is it worth that? What do I need to look for on a used planter? Will JD 4850 handle a 8 row planter? Any help is appreciated.

    Dresser 510B Loader

I've been searching on the ole interweb for specs on a Dresser 510B loader, and can't find a darn thing. Anyone know the specs on the engine or hydraulic system? I found one for sale and was wondering about it. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Rock bucket / Skeleton buckets - two questions

I find whenever I'm doing something like that, rent a machine. I'd rather be hard on a rental than a machine I plan on keeping for many years. You have a great idea, but I honestly dont think the loader on the 2010 is tough enough to handle a 60" bucket going through 4 inches of dirt. A skid...

    Million Dollar Rebuild Question

To everyone that suggested intseting a helicoil: I'm having other problems with the engine, such as oil usage, a valve that is missed up, and it does miss sometimes. In most peoples eyes, thats not enough to need a new motor, but I've done a lot of pulling with that truck, and it hasn'tt always...
