IH Sickle Mower ID and Adjustment

I just looked at your mower pictures. Absent Minded Farmer is 100% correct about the wobble box and cutterbar being New Holland while the main frame is IH. A neat improvise by someone. I switched my NH 451 from rivets to bolts last year. I ended up putting a new knife, guards, wear plates and...

IH Sickle Mower ID and Adjustment

You may want to watch some mowing videos from Pete on his Just A Few Acres Farm YouTube channel. He has a 120 mower as well and it cuts great.

You have a very nice 306 Ultradog! We have the pull-behind version; they are built like tanks.

NH 451 Wobble Box Assembly & Cutter Bar to a 450?

Greetings everyone! I currently have a NH 451 mower that is in great working order as I just went through the entire cutter bar last year. A neighbor not far from the family farm has a 450 that was once owned by Grandpa, who has since passed away. The 450 is not currently working (it sounds like...

Literature---New Holland Hay Mowers, Conditioners and Hay Rake Brochures

Thank you for sharing these pictures. Probably not a popular opinion but I enjoy using a sickle bar (especially the 451) to clip a pasture instead of a rotary cutter. My Grandpa had a 450 that was sold after he passed away in the early 90's. Should have spoke up when the family was deciding what...

    John Deere A Questions

Fixingfarmer is correct about a factory water pump on the A's as 1952 model (I believe it was late '52 serial numbers specifically) The 'John Deere' decal location was center on the hoods from '47-'49. The '50-'52 A's had the main 'John Deere' decal closer to the A side.

Seeking info on JD 350? 7' Sickle Bar Mower

Daniel W is spot with his post. The JD 350s/NH 451s were the cream of the crop for sickle bar mowers when they were in production and the value of these mowers has only increased. Marketplace has the 350s going from $1000-2000 depending on condition.

need help in identifying this rotary mower

The 305 came in both in both the pull type and 3 point version. I agree that most of the pull types had the wheels in the back but some came in the center. A quick Google search has your mower looking like a 305 but the mounting support around the gearbox looks different. Good luck with your...

need help in identifying this rotary mower

Just a guess but I'm gonna say a Bush Hog 305 based off those pictures. They are a good heavy duty mower!

    Old John Deere rotary cutter

Have been around these mowers for a long time but the pull-type with side wheels. The 127 and 205 models look identical (at least to me) other than the identification plate. They are very good mowers if maintained. The biggest strike against them now is age and parts availability.

    84" Finish Mower

We have used a 5-ft Caroni behind a 8n for decades. Solid mower that has given great years of service. The belts and blades have been replaced but that's to be expected. Ours has the side discharge on the right. I would definitely recommend it!

    NH 451 mower

Does adjusting the mower so the guards tilt slightly upward help? The knife, hold downs and wear plates are all in good shape, correct? I really like my 451 but it's used more for trimming instead of hay.
