Ford 3000 (1972 diesel) Hydraulic Pump seal

I was in the same boat with a '71 3000. After messing around with aftermarket stuff, I got new tube and factory pressure nuts. This is working. Been using a heavy disk harrow, no leaks or blowout. I think the tube was $240 with shipping. Nuts $65 each.

    Gravely 8123-g with loader.

Was visiting the neighbor, he was trying to get a Gravely 8123-G going. It cranks but would not start. I determined it had no spark. It was parked in a shed with no room to work around it (or even to get a good look). I don't know the Kohler 301, but was fearing the points were buried under the...

    Power adjust wheels

Thanks for posting the picture. That looks like what I have, the hub hole looks large, like the 6 on mine, it has the 8 wheel lugs nuts and the jack screw and body are the right style. General shape of the wheel hub is about right. Ok, so what other brands of tractor used this wheel? My...

    Power adjust wheels

Identify please: I have a set of power adjust rear tractor wheels. Rims are 12x28, 4 rail. Hub is 6 hole, 8 bolt holes on 8 circle. Current paint is lighter, like it used to be white or cream. The power adjust clamps type are the jack screw style. If you were to google type B jack screw miller...

    Ford 3000 oil filters

I am thinking 86546614 is the official New Holland part number. A Wix 51452 , Napa 1452 crosses. This is a tall filter. I mentioned short filter, they may have had a short one that got superseded, and I am told the ST16 Super-tech (Walmart, $2.97) will work. That is a short filter. I am not sure...

    Ford 3000 oil filters

Ford 3000 diesel year 1971 it has the spin on oil filter. Did they have a short filter and also a long filter option? If so, any reason to use one vs. the other? Now when I look in NH parts books, I get confused with the 6 (a bazillion) different part numbers. Everything gets superseded to...

    quick hitch compatible plow

I hear you. I note that my pull implements are easier to hook up. I see many tractors with faulty 3pt- the position control or draft control is not working right. I asked one tractor restoration mechanic what about fixing 3pt hydraulics/control. He basically said life is too short to get...

    quick hitch compatible plow

What I meant was a quick hitch such as the JD i-match or Speco, or $100 Harbor Freight. I would have to whack/cut/weld the heck out of my current plow, change the angle of the top link mast and such. And then it won't hook up to native 3-point any longer.

    quick hitch compatible plow

Does anyone make, or did make, a quick hitch compatible 2x14 plow? Thanks

    Ford 3000, a few questions

On my 1971 diesel, the only thing electric that worked was the starter. The generator tested good so I kept that also, and also the neutral switch was good. New wiring harness, key switch, light switch, fuel tank sender, oil light switch, temperature sender, instrument cluster, tach drive cable...

    135 Diesel coolant temp

Assuming the cooling system is working well, and the tractor is under moderate load, what would be the measured coolant temp at the top of the radiator? Does anyone know how that usually relates to the thermostat opens at rating? I don't trust the dash temp gauge and want to use my calibrated...

    Coolant system flush

'48 A/C model C. Is it safe to do a coolant system flush? Any risk of the wet cylinder liner seals leaking, or maybe the water pump seal? Or any other problems. Would use a flush compound from auto parts store. Nothing radical. Thanks.

    ZA engine design

Wow, with your replies, looking at the AGCO parts books and a few YouTube videos, I got to say it was as weird as I remember. The crankshaft has plain center bearing and rear bearing, but the front was a ball bearing? Or did they have some models with plain front bearing also? Look at that...

    ZA engine design

Tell me I wasn't dreaming. Some time around 1977 I worked on a tractor, I think a ZAU, the construction of the engine was different. I remember bolt on cylinders. Blind bored (not not bored through). The valves were overhead in the sense they were entirely above the piston. But they were...

Power Steering Cylinders with ports at only one end.

I was looking at the steering assist cylinders on my Ford 3000, I realized there are two hydraulic pressure lines to each cylinder, but they both are at the same end. I assume the cylinders are double acting. So what sort of internal design layout magic allows this to work? I am not that...
