    My Dad always welded on nuts with the arc welder right away before he did anything, while they were still hot he smacked them with a hammer. They always came right out, no problems

    I looked over my papers at work from when I did the last oil bid for our county shop. One of our local distributors used to sell Amoco oils, now they sell Castrol, Chevron, and a few others. He told me that Chevron bought all the rights to Amoco formulas, I even wrote it down on the paper. So...

    I believe that BP stuff is the same formula as the old Amoco 1000 Fluid. My grandpa used that stuff in his tractors and it worked just fine. But could be wrong, so don't hesitate to correct me.

    Spend a little now and you will spend more later. A lot of the oils are not made for common sump applications and don't have the right additives for the wet brakes which causes them to chatter and break apart. That will clog up the sump screen and then you will have more problems. Just my two cents.

    '51 B with wobbly front

    You might be able to turn you eccentric bushing some. If it is not worn to bad one notch might be enough. My A had teeth missing so had to put in new gears, matching set from another A.

    1952 John Deere A - Project Start

    I started on a 60 and wanted to do it right,$7,000 later still not done. It was A lot worse then what you've got but be ready for a fun adventure. I have a 51A and I love it, I love the sound of those old Girl's. Randy is right, get a budget started, and be realistic about you vision.

    If I remember right you can also put it in a bench vice and hook it to a scv on a tractor to adjust it. I think it shows how in the book.

    Looks like it is for a pressed steel frame tractor. Mounts are way different on those.
