    I found a solution to my parking brake issue and it was simple once I spent more time underneath the tractor. The brake peddles were adjusted to go down the recommended 1" or so before pressure was felt, but that didn't allow them to go down far enough for the "pawl" to catch. By backing off...

    I have the TM2088 February 2004 TECHNICAL MANUAL. I saw that part put when it described it as a "cable" figured something was wrong. Thank you for replying Jim. I took the 4 pics down as I didn't want to hog up all the space here.... figured they weren't that useful anyway..

    I just finished roughing up the brake shoes and thoroughly cleaning with brake cleaner as they were all glassed over. The brakes were squealing pretty bad and I was hoping it would quiet them down PLUS somehow magically fix the parking brake which hasn't work since I bought the tractor 6 or so...

    It measures less that 1.1" on my caliper. both 24mm and 1" are to small. 1-1/8 to big. I just ordered a 1-1/16" so here's hoping (it'll be a few days.) Thanks for the reply.

    Brake job on 790 parts list.

    Google zip code 49782, it should show an island 32 miles from shore in Lake Michigan. Thank you for the link. The following are the parts I question.... should they be replaced too? Input shaft sleeve packing? Brake drum gasket? Brake return extension springs? Anything else?

    I'm getting ready to tackle the brake's on my 790. They're making a horrible scratching sound that stops after depressing them a few times and the parking brake does not work . Should new shoes rectify both issues? I am in a pretty remote location, so I'd like to order and have everything on...

    This answered the question BlackHole49, it does have a wire running to it. Now I'm back to two fuel filters and I can handle that. Thanks for your help. Now I have another question......     I just posted what I believe to be the second one (post above yours.) The 3rd looks like an oil filter but I did not take a pic, I can get one tomorrow. Had a bunch of foreign writing (Japanese???) on it.

    So I cleaned out and reassembled the fuel sediment bowl and screen assembly on the tractor. Now I see there are 2 more diesel fuel filters, but I can't find the appropriate numbers in the manual. There is a large filter that looks more like an oil filter on top, and a gold colored in line filter...
