    Flooded?

Hello tractor pros- my 37 B will start (hand) and run roughly for less than a minute then quit. I can't start it over after that. Any suggestions on what to look for? Is it possible i have flooded it, or carb adjustment? Thanks in advance

    1937 B radiator

I had to replace lower radiator tank on '37 B. When tightening bolts, crank them down as tight as I can get them or is there a specific lb to torque to? Thanks in advance.

    Oil

Brought home a '37 B today. Seems to be in fairly good shape, other than crack on bottom of radiator. Going to change fluids- do you guys use detergent or non defer gen oil and gear oil? On the radiator, has anyone ever welded or braised a crack? How did it hold up? Thanks

    Crankshaft question

Can anyone tell me the correct diameter of the crankshaft (where rods connect) for a 51 B? I measured 2.746" and 2.747" and think that might be less than manufacturers spec? I put standard insert bearings on B3201R rods with no shims torqued 75lb and still not tight enough. It was stuck when...

    51 B bearings question

Hello all, I'm a newbie to old tractors and rebuilding my first. Every thing I'm doing on this is a first for me, but enjoying it! I am replacing bearings on connecting rod/end caps. On the bearings, what is the purpose of the notch on the one end? And do the notches need to line up a certain...

1951 John Deere b oil filter housing

Should have said the filter head. The long stud was broken at the top head so the cover and nut would just spin when trying to take apart. I welded it so when putting back together, the bottom cover and bolt would be able to screw tight. Didn't know any other option. Thanks

1951 John Deere b oil filter housing

Im working on my first tractor, 51 John Deere b. When I bought it the bolt that is connected to the top part of the oil filter housing was broken which it made it difficult to disassemble. I had the bolt welded back to that part and it is off center about 1/4". So, I have re-installed the oil...

    51 B serial number

Thanks for all of your input, I think I attached photo of plate correctly. It does have black face gauges and square axle. The plate is on there but can't read serial number.

    51 B serial number

I bought a 51 B that was a field find, the serial number tag is completely rusted out. Can I find the serial number anywhere else on the tractor? If not, I know I need a new carb, starter motor, and I'm sure other parts- how can I be sure to order correct parts without knowing serial number...

    John deere B oil filter

Can anyone tell me if the oil filter head/housing can be taken out of crank case on a 1951 John deere b? If so, how is that done? Thanks, in advance.
