    Eventually I did find the gasket for the accelerator pump discharge valve while I was reassembling the carburetor with new parts. The carburetor is back on the tractor and runs well, but I still have to choke it a lot.

    The illustrated parts diagram for the Metering Body (P/N 18 in my parts manual) shows that in addition to the Acceleration Pump, Piston Assembly (P/N 14: Vacuum Piston, Accelerating Pump Piston, etc.) there are also parts 18A and 18B which are designated the Accelerator Pump Discharge Valve...

    500 degrees in the oven for 30 minutes and the piston pulled right out. Everything else appears to be fine. Still no sign of the pump valve gasket. Does anyone know anything about this part, such as is it really a gasket or is it a really small O-ring?

    Thank you Bill. The carburetor was working, but only by choking it severely. I found the frozen acceleration pump piston when I took the carburetor off to clean it. I’ll probably just reassemble it as is and see if cleaning it has reduced the need to choke it.

    The boiling water did not work. I think I need more heat, maybe 450 degrees in the oven. Any thoughts or concerns? Also, does anyone know anything about the gasket for the accelerator pump valve?

    The accelerating pump piston in my Holley R3656-A is stuck in the metering body. I've tried soaking in penetrating oil and carb cleaner to no avail. I'm thinking heat might be the solution. An additional concern that I have is that I removed the Accelerator Pump Valve from the metering body...

    A new gasket has fixed the leaking valve cover. So far there’s no sign of oil in the spark plug wells. Thanks for the insight, this remedy was so much less involved than I feared it would be.
