I have 3 tractors, a 58 861, a 62 ford 4000, and this one that was probably originally a ford 4000 light industrial that snagged an engine front axle hydraulics and pto from another tractor.

Holy shneikies John in LA this is awesome! I’m excited to find out this tractor was a light industrial!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So in 63 was the 4000 industrial different gray on hood than the 1962 ford 4000 because dads 4000 I inherited has a serial in the 5000’s and his hood is more gray not buff

Yeah but the code on the transmission bell housing shows the tractor isn’t supposed to have pto and this one does… is that something someone could have added after the fact? If so I would agree that it’s likely the transmission back probably came from a 1963 4000 and the engine came off either...

Sounds good sir… what reference are you using? Here looks like a date code on the other side of the EAF6015 block… now I’m leaning toward the transmission and rear end came from two separate 4000’s and the engine came from an 800 or early 801?

Haha this is classic so essentially my engine, transmission, and rear axle are from 3 different tractors!?

Just added a 4th pic… I think they’re the date codes for the axle housings… D223 and the other is either H132 or N132

    Holy shneikies… this isn’t a 1958 841 it’s a 63 4000?

Ok so if it was made thru 1957 is there a chance they would have put it in a 1958 801??? Or more likely a 1957 801? Is there a way to tell if the motor came from an 800 vs 801? It is a 172ci motor I have had it apart a couple years ago and put new rings and rod bearings in it. At some point...
