    8N no oil pressure

Well…… I’ve tried to sell the tractor AS IS and haven’t had any real takers so I’m thinking about repairing it. Based on what I’ve told you guys do I need to do a complete rebuild? Just the top end? Just a gasket? Any thougfhts are appreciated. Remember……. I wasn’t getting oil pressure and there...

ANYONE WANT TO BUY A 1950 FORD 8N???

    8N no oil pressure

I didn’t check that. It sounds like I need to drain the new oil ( which is ruined ) then have the head gasket checked for leaks right? The radiator level is low. If the head gasket is trashed what are my options? DO I have to pull the gas tank and bonnet, pull the top end off and replace the...

    8N no oil pressure

WHELP………….. I ordered the new drain plug with the screen on it. Got it installed and put in my new oil filter….added the oil and took the advice of one of you guys and unscrewed the oil line from the gauge and used an oil pump can to add oil down the line. I put a couple cans in and thought I’d...

    8N no oil pressure

I truly appreciate the help and opinions. I know how to do the oil change I DIDN’T however know about priming the oil pump. This tractor is turning into a giant toy for me. It’s like a grown up toy model. Incredibly therapeutic and satisfying to work on. You guys have taught me a lot so far and...

    8N no oil pressure

I’m waiting for the drain plug with the screen before I put the new oil in. It runs and idles fine although I shut it down quickly when I saw no oil pressure.

    8N no oil pressure

I was WONDERING if putting oil down the gauge line was an option…. I wish I had known that before I scratched the crap out of my old man hands getting in behind the distributor yesterday. I’ll give that a try. I’m wondering if for the time being is it ok that my drain plug doesn’t have a screen...

    8N no oil pressure

Is it common for the screen to fall off of the drain plug inside the oil pan? I’m wondering if I should drop the pan before I order another drain plug? Should I go ahead and try to prime the oil pump without the screen on the drain plug before I drain and pull the pan??

    8N no oil pressure

Gotcha. It’s awfully tight in there. I didn’t realize I had to thread the hose back in there. I’ll get on that tomorrow

Front distributor Ford 8n has no spark

Thanks I’ll check it out. These carbs must be pretty basic I’m guessing. You know back in the day farmers had to really be good at just about everything… they don’t make people like that anymore

    8N no oil pressure

You guys rock…. I did NOT know there were two holes. I just stuck the hose in the first hole. I’ll try again tomorrow. The tractor is empty now. So I remove the oil drzin plug again and stick my finger up in there to feel if there is a metal tube sticking down? When I removed the drain plug...

Front distributor Ford 8n has no spark

I posted on another thread about my lack of oil pressure. The white smoke seemed to go away fairly quickly. When I shut the tractor off even after I turn the fuel off at the bowl I have gas dripping out of the carb. I turned the gas off and it slowed but still had a drip.

    8N no oil pressure

I know I know I know….. this has been covered. I read some of your posts and tried some of your tricks but no luck. I just got my 8N to start yesterday and today when I was getting ready to do an oil change I checked the oil gauge and NOTHING….. I unscrewed the oil line at the gauge and at the...

Front distributor Ford 8n has no spark

You mean file out the groove in the bracket so the screw allows it to close up a bit? Also….. I am idling the tractor for a bit and it seems like it is kicking out a bit of white smoke. Will this go away after running for awhile? I checked the oil and it seems like it smells a bit like gas...
