Still having steering trouble on 4610
Well, I got a new steering pump after replacing the filter did no good. Installed the new pump and the steering is still crappy and the new pump gets too hot in my opinion. Well I changed the filter in my 4610 power steering unit. Anyone know for sure what kind of oil is supposed to be used in it (the power steering)? I'm too lazy to find my book and too stupid to ask my parts guy, lol. Is it just hydraulic fluid? -

Thats the way I understood my parts guy but I thought someone here said to pull the whole pump. I knew it would probably be obvious tomorrow when I ge tthe filter and start on it but it's good to know now. Thanks! -

Hey guys, I have a 4610 ford tractor that the power steering quit working on. I imagine it's the little pump but I'm not sure. Is there any way of checking it without just R&R with a new one? It started out weak without the engine at full RPM now it's just dead without any assistance at all. -

It's not diesel leaking at the injector pump, it's motor oil. I thought it was coming from a gasket near the pump. I didn't see any diesel leaks on the tractor, sorry I didn't clearify that. The pan gasket may not be leaking, might have just been the other oil running down and around there. I... -

Yeah, they were asking 16.5 for the thing and I thought that was high for all the problems it has but didn't know for sure. The PTO I considered as being the worst of the problems. The engine sounds okay and tranny is a little sloppy at the shifters but works alright. The PTO wouldn't pull the... -
