Need help moving Dad's old MF85

Hello, I'm needing some help from the experts here. I have my Dad's old MF85, I believe it's a '59 model, sitting at my granddad's old home place. It's been sitting for years, and my mother is about to sell the property. I need to get this tractor and a couple of old Farmalls off the property...

    53 Jubilee 3 point issues

Hello all, I posted over in the Ford forum, I thought maybe this area would be better suited to the issues I'm having. My 53 Jubilee sat over the winter in my son in laws shop unused except for being started occasionally. This spring once I got it out to put it to work the 3 point hitch was...

Looking for help with 53 Jubilee hydraulics

Hello all. I'm having some issues with the 3 point lift on my Jubilee. I've been searching for similar posts to mine but there's a lot I don't understand, and before trying to fix anything myself I'm trying to do as much learning online as I can. Here's the issue I'm having: when in...

    Breaking new garden ground....need advice

My wife and I just bought some acreage located in the Ozark foothills of Arkansas. I have a 53 Ford Jubilee, and we have an area of about 1.5 acres we want to break ground on for a good sized garden. I need advice on how best to break the ground. I have about 6-8 inches of good topsoil, but...

    53 Jubilee fluid leak

Worked all morning draining and refilling all fluids. Changed engine oil to 15w40, used 80w90 in trans, 134d in hydraulics. Cleaned and refilled air intake. The leak is still there. Still looks to be coming from behind the starter, and also dripping off the front of the starter. I'll try to...

    53 Jubilee fluid leak

Thanks for the reply. I thought about switching to a thicker oil, don't know if it will help but worth a try. I guess replacing the rear main seal requires splitting the tractor and pulling the crank? I've never done it on this size engine, but guess I need to learn. Also, I bought 134d...

    53 Jubilee fluid leak

It does have a sherman hi/lo, but I didn't see fluid coming from the cotter pin hole, it's coming from behind the starter and dripping down the bell housing.

    53 Jubilee fluid leak

I posted this in the 8N forum, but was getting no replies, I thought I'd try over here. My 53 Jubilee had a pinhole leak in the radiator. Today I took the hood off and used some Bars Leaks and think I managed to seal the radiator. While I was running the tractor to warm the engine for the...

    53 Jubilee fluid leak

I'm a first time tractor owner, trying to learn my way around my tractor. I've been dealing with a pinhole radiator leak on my 53 Jubilee. I added some Bars Leaks to the radiator. While I was letting the tractor idle and warm up, I noticed fluid leaking from behind the starter, running down...

Ford Jubilee leaking hydraulic line, leaking radiator

I should have worded it better, it's just the stock hydraulic lines that run underneath the transmission, not the engine. It looks like the rubbed against where the engine and trans meet, is it called the bell housing? The previous owner brazed it, and someone put what looks like jb weld on...

Ford Jubilee leaking hydraulic line, leaking radiator

Newbie tractor owner here. My '53 Jubilee has a leak in one of the metal hydraulic hoses that raise the 3 point. It is leaking about midway under the engine. It looks as thought the line rubbed against the underside of the tractor and the previous owner's repair is not holding. I'd like to...

    Manual?

I wondered which service manual you guys would recommend for someone who is a novice? The I&T manual or the G&D? For a MF 85? Some of the descriptions I've read say the I&T is for experienced mechanics.

MF85....could use some help and info..

Thanks so much. From what I can tell, the numbers J298 on the block tell the year. J is for October. 29 is the day of the month, and 8 is the end of the year it was made. So Oct. 29, 1958.

MF85....could use some help and info..

Yep.. drained the transmission and about a gallon of water came out before trans fluid started draining. How do I gain access to the transmission to inspect the damage?
