    630 JD Reduction Gear Noise

Once upon a time, somebody posted something about replacing some bearings that cut the first reduction cross cut gear wine in half. Does anybody know which bearings this would be? I would like to quiet the wine in my 630 to a minimal level. This tractor has wined or howled forever. It howls...

42 JD-A Pffffffffft Sound in exhaust

I used the IT manual under "Hot." I would have to go back and look.

42 JD-A Pffffffffft Sound in exhaust

I agree. It is hard to explain a sound in text. The old Ford 2N tractors had the same miss sound - even though they ran fine.

42 JD-A Pffffffffft Sound in exhaust

I just rebuilt a 42 JD-A. The block was sleeved, new rings, head plained and valve job. The engine starts and runs great. The exhaust is a straight pipe elbow out the side that somebody rigged up. When the engine runs, there is a regular slight Pfffft that is coming from the exhaust. The plug...

    Gas Blistering Paint On Hood

Five years ago, I painted a 1935 JD-D. The hood looked like a million bucks. I always used a rag to prevent gas drips from hitting the hood when fueling the tractor. Tonight, I noticed the paint was starting to blister around the fuel tank inlet on the hood. I used the John Deere Classic Green...

    Front JD 630, A, 70 Pedistal Swap

Will the front pedistal on a JD 630, A and 70 interchange? I have an opportunity to put a roll-a-matic on a 630 that is currently on a 70. I also have a solid pedistal from an A that I want to swap. Before I make any deals, I was curious if they would interchange.

Does anybody know the initial carb settings for an Oliver 77 marvel sheibler carb? I am looking for idle, load and float (how to measure float too). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Oliver 77 Carburetor Problem

Working on an Oliver 77. The tractor will not run unless you fully restrict the air going into the carburetor. The engine then runs, but when you open the airway, it dies. The carburetor is getting plenty of gas. The carburetor was recently rebuilt. What are the initial settings: load, idle...
