    8N SIDE MOUNT DISTRIBUTOR

    Started getting misfires and irregular popping out exhaust.Removed Dist.cap to see groves cut in terminals inside cap apparently from rotor button. one broke right off. A fix for this sloppy distributor or could it still function with a electronic conversion?

    Is the screen a necessary item and it just seems strange to me that the bell has no breather hole to allow the oil level to raise above the bottom of tube?

    Gas engine and maybe 5hrs a week. Has to be rebuilt after this summer as it has bad blowby through crank case out oil breather, bought it not running and was not aware how neglected the old machine was.

    I will get my hands on a mic and check journals for specs and egg shape. just using maybe 20 hours a month tops to maintain drive.

    If these are standard size and I wanted to just get through the summer before complete rebuild,could I emory cloth journals and use the .002 bearings? Journals are scored and will need a machinist attention no doubt,but just want it running for summer.

    OBVIOUSLY LOL. Dropped pan again today to reveal worn spot on pickup tube where rod journal was hitting.

    D.A.B. 57 below that 5510 below that 67-21 very faint inbeteen 2nd and 3rd markings 00 other end of bearing appears to be marked twice STD. STD.

    Ordered new tube from YT. Installed and lines up correctly. Start tractor to hear loud knocking not heard before and no oil pressure. Following posts here that recommend priming through pressure valve. Some pressure like 5# and still knocking. Thoughts? SORRY FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO RESPOND...

    Also I have had the pan on and off 4 times trying to align tube to drain hole so I can put new drain plug and screen in properly. Appears as if the tube is about 1/2 inch too long.
