Yes, I had a cousin at the age about 12 was bitten on the leg by a rattlesnake. He almost died from the bite. In fact, that night they called the family to the hospital 3 times saying he wasn't going to make it. That leg has given him trouble for his entire life, but he is 91 years old and...

    Oil question

I took my 2002 F-150 with 198,000 miles on the clock to Just Brakes. I ordered a front end alignment and a conventional oil change. I thought the price quote that they quoted over the phone was a little high, but what the heck. When I went to pay the bill they had added a radiator flush and...

    Any goat raisers here?

My Grandfather and Father raised registered Angora goats for mohair production. Very seldom had twins but were always a problem to get mama to accept both. The solution was to put all three in a small pen and take a spray can of Right Guard deodorant and apply to mama's nose and the backside...

    What was I thinking?

I purchased a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster pickup in 1965. It was an absolute basket case. Finally started restoration in 2010 and finished in 2013. It's never too late to start a fun project. It might take a little bit longer. BobTx

    Toll charge update

When I got my "false bill" I asked the collection agency how they could detect me with the toll. The reply was they take the license number to the department of motor vehicles and get a name . From there they go to the internet and get an address and or a telephone number, and never check if...

The one thing you got away with

In 1970 I was managing a hamburger store for a giant corporation. In their higher wisdom the company saturated the neighborhood with free hamburger coupons. The next day every man and his dog showed up wanting his free hamburger. We could not keep up. Everything was running at absolute max...

CB radios in tractors, combines, and farm trucks pre cell phone era.

Back in the day I flew an airplane that had a multiple channel radio that you could tune any frequency, high or low. I found the CB channels and from 30,000 feet I entertained the truckers from New York all the way to Los Angeles. My mother's neighbor had a CB based station in her house ...

    3pt top link

They are used to set the height of equipment or implements . One end of a chain is attached to the end of the drawbar then over the top link and back down to the other end of the drawbar similar to using the stay bars. The notches make the height adjustable without using a wrench. BobTx

Pulling trailers with 3 point mounted drawbar VS swinging drawbar

A little bit of info....the old Fords had two accessories available. One was called the sway bar, when installed it stopped the side ways movement of the draw bar. The other one was the stay bar, which when properly installed would lock the vertical movement of the draw bar. So you had to be...

    What are these?

Definitely railroad spikes. It looks like the disks were used to identify the date of installation. Different railroads must of used different dating systems. The central Texas railroad that I am familiar with used large , short and galvanized nails with the year stamped in the head. I have...
