Thanks Winston. That video confirms that it needs jacked up at the Bell housing but my tractor has the 4WD axle and the blade undercarriage in the way that I can’t go straight up with a jack and wheel it back so I guess at least the axle’s gonna have to come off and I’ll have to work in between... -

YANMAR 155D - Piston Rings and/or Head Gasket failure test?
Does anyone know the best way to separate a YM 155D if you don’t have the actual tractor separator? I’ve got a couple jacks, but it looks like there might be a better tool to use to be able to move the tractor and get in between the undercarriage cause it has a front blade on it. -

Does anybody know how to pull the block out of a Yanmar 155D? I have it separated, but can’t pull it forward enough to clear the bell housing because it’s hitting the frame —see the pictures. -

I changed the head gasket about three years ago, but only had about 70 or 80 hours on it. I never re-tightened the head bolts and the tractor just stopped when I was brush hogging last year. I thought it was the Fuel Injectors or valve settings because it wouldn’t start but it finally started... -

Is there a way to tell if you just have a bad head gasket or if the piston rings are failing also? See pictures. Also, will the block on my Yanmar 155D just come straight out once I disconnect the wires, hoses, and eight bolts holding it to the frame and bell housing? I don’t see any other way... -

Rear Main Seal - YANMAR 155D
Thanks, but I can get the injectors out. It’s an adapter for doing a compression test to fit in the same size hole as the injectors is what I can’t find online. Hoye doesn’t have one that fits. -

It’s black and coming out between the block and the bell housing for the fly-wheel so I assumed it was oil. Definitely not antifreeze and it’s not clear so I didn’t think it was tranny fluid. If I have to split open the tractor, would you replace anything else in there if it was you, like the... -

I thought it was staying the same level the first couple times I got it started but the last time I started it I let it run for two minutes and it looked like the oil level dropped a quart. I put synthetic 10-30 oil in. It’s coming out between the block and the bell housing for the flywheel... -

Thanks for the videos. I got it started today but I don’t know how or what I did other than resetting the rocker arms 1 million times. But now I got oil pouring out the bottom that I assume is the rear main seal. So I’ll be posting a new thread asking how to replace that but I’m wondering if any... -

Thanks Winston. It didn't say what Yanmar engine it was referring to so I assume that compression (550-640) is accurate for my YM155D with a 2TR13A engine. I got a true compression adapter coming from Hoye to double check my compression. Do you know if a bad governor could cause it to crank... -

YM155D Compression?
Does anyone know what the compression should be for a YM155D with a 2TR13A engine? I’ve had this tractor for almost 40 years with no problems other than changing the head gasket a couple years ago and it fired right up after I put it back together. I was cutting in the spring and it stalled out...
