    1954 S/A Halftrack

Some of you might be interested in this recent article in Farm Show, about a 1954 Super A with halftracks <http://www.farmshow.com/a_article.php?aid=27864>. The tracks are from a Bombardier snow machine, and are located under a 6 x 8 ft flatbed, which has been appended to the tractor.[/b]

    ROPS for 140

Yes, this thread is four years old, and the original poster has undoubtedly resolved the issue for himself. But I found this site while searching for a ROPS for my own 140. Having found three (possible) suppliers, I thought I would share the info. There are still many 140s (as well as As...

    ROPS for 140

According to PAMI <http://www.pami.ca/pdfs/safety/rops_guide.pdf> ROPS are available for the 140 from three different sources. (Presumably, these would also fit the A, S/A, 100 and 130.) Case IH 3000 – 7th Avenue N. Fargo, ND 58102 701-280-1260 Model No. 302593 Laurin Inc. 487...

    superA clutch locked up

Do some heavy drawbar work (plowing, grading, skidding logs) with the clutch depressed. If/when it releases, it will do so with a loud BANG. Don't jump out of the seat when this happens.

Flat Fenders on Industrial Super A

I'm willing to accept that these aren't IHC OEM, but they just seem too well designed and constructed to be farmer-made one-offs. I suspect that they were made by a small after-market supplier as part of a fender-and-sunroof package. But that is only a guess. And Steve, I do plan to keep...

Flat Fenders on Industrial Super A

I own a 1950 +/- International Industrial Super A that has flat fenders, instead of the typical clamshell ones. (See attached photo.) These fenders are constructed from 3/16 inch thick steel plate, and appear to have been factory made. There are upright tubes welded to the top surface of each...

Farmall A S/A: Creeper First Gear?

I thought I read somewhere that there was an optional super low creeper first gear for Farmall As and S/As, and that tractors that had this were indicated by a letter appended to the serial number. Does anyone know anything about this? I would like a lower first gear for my S/A for doing...

Super A: Flow rate of hydraulic pump?

Thanks to all! You have saved me quite a bit of time and frustration, and, ultimately, disappointment. There's nothing worse than investing a lot of time and money into building a project, only to find, once it is complete, that it won't (and can't) work. --Bruce

Super A: Flow rate of hydraulic pump?

Does anyone know the flow rate (GPM) of the hydraulic pump on a Super A? I was thinking of tapping into the stock hydraulic system to add a remote to run a hydraulic motor on a mower. But I'm thinking that the stock pump may not have a high enough flow rate to drive the motor fast enough to...

Super A: How to reduce slop in steering?

EZ-- How much slop did you have with the broken Woodruf key? My tractor had been hit on the front end, hard enough to break a front spindle and bend the tie rod. So it's conceivable that the Woodruff key also sheared at that time. I wish the previous owners had kept a service record.... --Bruce

Super A: Gas drips from carb - gas cap to blame?

Thanks to all. It turns out that I have a Carter UT-series carburetor. (I had to take it off the tractor and clean the junk off the outside in order to find a manufacturer's identification.) I have now purchased a carburetor rebuild kit, and will tear into it the next chance I get. Thanks...

Super A: How to reduce slop in steering?

Thanks to all for your help. I've got about 45 degrees of slop (half of a quarter turn), which I find bothersome, especially at road speed, but also just while mowing. I'll jack up the front end and take a close look at all components, as suggested. Then, if major surgery is required, I...

Super A: How to reduce slop in steering?

There is way too much slop in the steering of my Super A. I have tightened up the tie-rod ends, and the steering column does not crank in and out when it turns, so I suspect that the problem is slop in the worm and sector gears, rather than end-play in the steering column bearings. Is there...

Super A: Gas drips from carb - gas cap to blame?

Gas sometimes drips from the carburetor, especially on hot days. It also pees out in a steady stream from the carb and air filter cup when starting. But the tractor runs okay once it starts. I'm wondering if the gas cap is not properly vented, and is pressurizing the gas tank. According to...
