    Dielectric grease in distributer?

The only grease inside the distributor should be on the leading edge of the cam. And just a slight dab. I've never used dielectric grease. NAPA carries the correct cam lube. This tube will be around for your grandkids to use on the tractor 40 years from now...

8n doesn't want to start. Oil in cylinder 2?

Timing was one of the most recent things I checked and it is 1,2,4,3 Timing? That's not timing. That's firing order. Timing it is a bit more complicated than checking the plug wires. Can we now assume that you have not set the timing? What did you set the points at? 75 Tips

    Bad voltage regulator

You do not have a v/r problem. You could have either a fuel or electrical problem. You most likely do not have a sticky float, but you could easily have a sticky needle valve. Same symptoms, but floats usually work or they don't. Check the wiring first. It's easy. Put some Seafoam or MMO in...

    Bad voltage regulator

The voltage regulator is in the charging circuit and not in the ignition circuit. Your voltage regulator has nothing to do w/ your stated problem. Chances are anyway that you have an alternator w/ an internal voltage regulator. Check all the connections in the ignition circuit, starting with...

    2N distributor question

If you need to replace the insulator, you have two alternatives. Cut up an old set of points to replace the metal strip and go to the hardware store for a .250 x 3/8 square nylon anchor nut to replace the insulator. Or the wiser alternative: buy the strip, insulator and brass screw from Tim Ponn...

    9n no spark follow up

Randomly replacing parts usually gets you the result you just got. Get out your meter. You should see 12.65 volts at the battery. With the key on, and the points open, you should see the same voltage at the coil. If you do not, then check the voltage from the battery to the switch to the...
