john deere m, still no oil to head, need advice????
Did you put the rocker arm stud (the long one with machined flat on it) in the rear hole of the head? the oil line on the rear of the head supplys oil to the stud location flows around the the stud, up the rocker post to the rocker shaft and to the rocker arms. just checking did not see this...- Bryan DeWitt

60S Low-seat manuals

JD-60 Gasket (Gasket Vertical Rails)?
Old mechanic trick i've used for years on all john deere's and even trouble some cylinder heads on cat cummins and detroits, is spray both sides of gasket with silver paint, let dry and install flat side towards block, that means crimped side of gasket goes towards cylinder head, 36 plus years...- Bryan DeWitt

820 power steering
if you don't see the oil on the ground, by the ps shaft or leaking out of the vane unit, it is leaking at the ps pump, and traveling down the tube into the engine crankcase. monitor your engine oil level and see if it is rising on the dip stick.- Bryan DeWitt

Howdy Fred, well i have been lurking on this web site for many years, but i just got to comment on your tight engine, did you physicaly check your bearing clearances with mic & snap gauges, main bearing clearance should be .004 to .006, and .0015 to .004 on rods, even if it came from the shinist...- Bryan DeWitt
