    Hi ,It's definitely a 6 volt 3 cells.The coil says 6volt pictured above its the one in it now. It says no resistor required. It does have a generator on it. The tractor when bought had no battery and a 6volt was thrown in it assuming it wasn't converted to 12volt.

    Ok I bought from Steiner tractor to but it said made in China. Maybe I'll up grade to flame thrower brand

    Thanks I'll put a new coil in it and see what the terminals say. If it's a 6 volt any reason coils are burning up?

    It's a 6 volt battery now but from what I hear it will start with a 6 volt on 12 volt system. The tractor had no battery to start with when purchased a 6 volt was thrown in it.

    Ya it stays made in China 6 volt no resistor required. It is a round coil. Part of me is wondering if it's been converted to 12volt. Is there a way of telling if it was converted?

    Hi guys I have a 8n side distributer that runs for 1.5 hours then the coil burns out. 2 so far. Do the newer 51 52 8n have resistors? It's 6 volt. The distributer is newer. My 49 8n has a resistor on firewall behind instrument cluster. This one doesn't. Any ideas. Thanks New to this .
