Pics of IH #3 potato planter partially disassembled

So in my quest to fix the planter, which seems to be kicking out the slip clutch at random moments, I tore into it and was able to discern how the whole slip clutch assembly goes together. I'm thinking I can use a few shims to tighten things up and keep the clutch from slipping so easily (like...

    IH one row potato planter

Okay --- I just wasted a whole day trying to plant some potatoes w/ this #3 IH planter and she's acting up again. Hit and miss on the picker arms continuing to rotate and pickup taters to plant. Feels like something is binding but the pickers are clear --- feels more like in the...

    Alternatives to Pioneer quick couplers

I have a 3rd remote on my loader that uses Pioneer quick couplers and the females collars are a b***h to retract and then like to leak after you've disconnected. I won't mention how nice they are in winter when they get wet and freeze ...... only when you're attaching the snowblade of course...

    Shop Question

Standing seam usually requires an installer -no? Or can you rent to seam crimper tool etc? That roof can get pretty pricey when you have it installed by someone else. Almost every barn/shop builder here uses the standard 29 ga metal and screw it to the purlins ---- and, almost guarantee some...

    Sickle Rivet Tool

I bought the whole tool at someplace like Farm and Fleet or Tractor Supply Company. Have you heard of a place called Webb's Sickle Service (or Supply)? They're in Nebraska and might have something you need.

    Today's Funny

I'll steal a joke from a bunch of tool heads and adapt it to old tractors WIFE --- "Don't you have enough old tractors?" ME --- "Why? Do you know someone thats' trying to get rid of one!?"

    Shop Question

I have that stuff in my shop roof and I hate it. When you have a leak (and you will unless you're putting in a standing seam metal roof), the water find its way around the screw head and through the roof except that it's trapped up in the insulation where you can't see it ..... until it runs...

    IH one row potato planter

Thanks for the replies. I spoke to Kevin H from YT and as we were discussing the planter he mentioned having the cover disks down. The planter did great a few years ago but when I tested it last year w/ spuds in it, the skips began. Problem may have been testing it on the driveway (gravel) so...

    JD 467 baler

Just a thought --- Are you sure you just don't need bearings at the coupler (where the 2 shafts come together)? I ask because my JD 347 sq baler ate that bearing last year. The replacement bearing is way cheaper than a new shaft --- even if you buy from JD dealer.

    IH one row potato planter

I'm going back to an old thread about IH potato planters some of you posted on. I've got one and it seems like the picker arms will rotate for a few revolutions (say a dozen or 20) and then stop. I can't tell why they stop and then will start moving again after traveling forward. This happens...
