Sorry 'bout that, my mind is getting old and forgetful... it is a diesel

    loading and unloading tractors

I am 100% with you. I have a neighbor who is often around and will jump in to hitch up the goose neck trailer but forgets to hook the safety chains, or has pulled the plug to disconnect the trailer electrical from the truck by yanking on the wire rather than the plug ending up with broken wires...

    JD2030 fuel issue

My son went to brush mow with the JD2030 a day or 2 ago and while at modest speeds it ran fine. When he powered up to a full PTO speed it would cut out as though it were shut down with the key. Bad fuel filter? Bad fuel pump? Not an air filter issue. I did some acreage spreading fertilizer...

    Tired of mowing dirt

Some of the sickle bars had an adjustment to change the pitch so the rock guards don't point downward but straight or even point skyward considerably. Yours may have that adjustment. It will be almost the same as raising the outer shoe. changing the pitch will eliminate nearly all of the dirt...

    what should an ammeter read?

If you would like to know what the ammeter should read, may I suggest the National Geographic?

    Bird Control

good morning, When I had sweet corn, I would take one dead crow and spread it on the ground, wings open, in the corn. They disliked that and would then leave the corn alone. They would be afraid to come near. I also found that taking a black plastic bag and cutting an open-winged silhouette...

    Burning uncured wood

Unless you see no water coming from the ends of your wood while burning, it is wet and will cause creosote buildup. That being said, stack temperature plays into it substantially. A stack remaining above 140 degrees will collect much less creosote than a cold one. A cold stovepipe on the outside...

What is it ? A weird one .

I suspect it is an attachment to a hand pump (Pitcher pump, Hee haw pump as dad always called it). We used many of the Columbiana hand pumps in the state forests where I worked and each new pump came with a adapter to hook up a hose to and yes, they had a barb on them so a pail could be hung...

    Loose bolts on J.Deere

My good neighbor has a small J.D. 3320 tractor with loader and he cannot keep the mounting bolts of the loader tight. The first time it happened he had several bolts on each side snap while others had only loosened. They (all 16)were all replaced on each side with new J.Deere bolts. I am...

    How to break rust bond

I was working on a dozer head with several broken studs years ago and a fella told me to heat the head and put bees wax on the broken studs. I didn't have bees wax so used a candle and I was amazed how easily they came out. The heat doesn't need to be terribly hot, not even "spit-sizzling hot"...

    Trailer Deck Boards

I have redecked many trailers over the years and before I recommended any wood I would ask how heavy are your loads? Any dozers? How many ton is the trailer? I believe all the decks I've replaced are a consequence of worn out decks, not rotted ones. And yes, once the boards begin breaking up...

    Slow work.

And hot enough to fry eggs too. I have to go put the disc harrow on the tractor... well...maybe later! the brush mower is on the other tractor waiting for me...... well....maybe later. Yep, retirement suits me. Cal

Anyone start a bison ranch from scratch?

Years back I knew a fellow who was going to raise them. He started out with 7. His biggest downfall was inadequate fencing, He never had it strong enough. They were constantly getting out. He lived on a busy road and eventually all were killed by vehicles. Too bad. I liked to see them out to...

Need Ideas to Spruce Up Outdoor Grounds

Well, I see worn grass,(sandy soil?) move in some soil and replant a section or two at a time. Rope it off to keep foot traffic off until it gets established, A few flowering crab apple trees add a lot as do Dogwood trees and Magnolia. Personally, I'd try to stick with native shrubbery. For the...

    need some advice

How do you know there is no thermostat by checking the radiator? If it was a bad head gasket, one cylinder would be pushing air into the radiator on each compression stroke. Simply fill the radiator to the top without the cap on and you would see constant bubbling at each compression stroke...
