Oil in lift all harmful to seals on loader?

I have heard some people claim regular oil is harmful to hyd. seals, will putting the recomended 30 wt non det. oil in my M lift all damage the seals on my wesendorf (sp?) loader.

Type of oil for Lift All in an M

You seem to know what you are talking about, I took the info I found at face value because it made sense, never took into account the particles were too small to matter, I guess it would be fine to use the 30 wt detergent.

Type of oil for Lift All in an M

After doing some more looking 30 weight non-detergent is the winner, suspending the dirt in the oil (detergent type) and running it through the pump is not a good idea. Any other thoughts on the subject are more than welcome.

Oil for Lift All M again!

Is is best just to use hyd. oil for the lift all, I want to use the best product available , the manual said regular oil but that was 40 years ago, what weight hyd (if OK) should I use?

Type of oil for Lift All in an M

I see by the posts it is ok to put 30w oil in the Lift All on my M, does it need to be non-detergent or will the regular oil work?

    Battery cable question

Not saying they fail if used correctly but they can if cranked on too long but that can be done with 6 volts, the 440-220 volt was to explain about the higher voltage and more amps. You increase the speed of a dc motor with a voltage increase.

    Battery cable question

They will burn out on 12 volts quicker than 6 volts-try running a motor wired for 220 volts on 440 volts- it will draw so many amps it will just trip out the overload. saying the starter will draw just the amps it needs doesn't hold true when you up the volts.

    Battery cable question

I=E/R ohms's law, so one can see if you increase the voltage and the resistance stays the same the current goes up as is a simple division problem in this case.

    Carl Grover's Cam gear

Thanks for all the info and ideas, I do not have a good place to work on the tractor now that the weather has turned cold but might be able to take it to the neighbors. One can learn a lot on this forum.

Wesendorf (sp?) loader on M with regular hydraulics.

It does have it's own valve set, won't that work like it should but maybe slow?

Wesendorf (sp?) loader on M with regular hydraulics.

How funky will my Wesendorf loader work on my M with the standard hydraulics, this my be my best option for now.

Live hydraulics question (3 inch spacing vs 3.5)

I had the valve cover off after the problem and the valve train was not moving at all, so you are telling me that the problem with my tractor is more than likely the cam gear?

Live hydraulics question (3 inch spacing vs 3.5)

Good point, how big a job is that and how can I tell if I have a good cam gear on the M that has the live hydo on it. I have had that M for about 30 years with no problem but doesn't mean it is the wrong gear. What happens when this gear lets go as maybe that is what is wrong with my tractor.

Live hydraulics question (3 inch spacing vs 3.5)

Thanks for quick reply-when the weather gets better I will start on the project. This is a good forum for stuff like this, my M is just a tractor I use around my place but they are kind of neat.
